That count did seem a little slow. And usually I don't agree with Don King.

 

well it wasnt as hard as Tysons usual KO punch. Besides, the ref was counting slow. I would have taken advantage too.

 

This is a great urban legend. All you have to do is watch the clip. Sure, the count was slow, but Buster was watching the ref the whole time. He got up when he needed to get up, which was smart. If it had been two seconds earlier, it would have been fine.

Not saying you, but a lot of Tyson fans seem to want to cling to this notion that there's no way Mike could have lost legitimately, but he absolutely did. He was not invincible after all.

 

Tyson seemed disinterested from the start. But there's no doubt that Douglas fought a near perfect fight that night.

 

it was a bit slow, its why there was an issue. But it was legit count. it would have been worse if the ref counted extra fast, cause i remember douglas winning on points before that happened. it would look fixed. I was ****in jumpin when Mike got KO'd!! then i felt sorry the next day.:yep

 

Douglas could have got up at 4 if he'd wanted to.

He got up because it wasn't the greatest punch in the world, that's why. The punch had no real impact on Douglas, he was fine.

 

There was NOTHING stopping Buster Douglas that night. It was one of those rare moments in sport where a marginal athlete became spectacular at just the right time. That encarnation of Buster Douglas beats ANYBODY you put in front of him. One of the most spectacular efforts I've ever seen in the ring.

 

Monstrous uppercut actually. If you watch it from the side angle, it looks devastating. Buster though, unlike Tyson, wasn't taking flush shots round after round and he had a great motivation to win. The slow count probably helped as well, but I think he would of got up regardless.

I agree. Douglas was a man possessed that night and completely focused but let's get real, Tyson was just not his old self and you could immediately tell from the 1st round on. He just didn't have that hunger and determination that night. And for a guy like Tyson, that means a lot.

 

Tyson was a **** champion, a champ should never be disinterested, when it comes to defending his title, he deserved to get his ass kicked and im glad he did..

 

He got up because he was given a 15 second count ....

 

YES, indeed. A full 12 count I believe.

Technically, he got KO'd.
