    Cos it made money.
That's the only thing Larry was fighting for by then.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the relative absurdity of Foreman's comeback. Do you hold him to the same standard?

Larry, I suspect, really wishes he had George’s second-career popularity, & of course, winning the championship. So just another thing for him to feel & act resentful over.

Yeah, almost as resentful as some of the odd people who vicariously live through the sport.

Could have been a very useful fighter if he had been brought along and controlled his weight.

He did get screwed out of a title twice though. If the WBO hadn't stripped Mercer, Holmes would have won a belt before Foreman did. And if weren't for hometown judges, he'd have beat Nielsen and have held the record for oldest HW champ.

I've thought about the WBO thing. I suspect if they had any inkling Holmes would show up, look great, and win easily, they wouldn't have stripped Mercer. WBO was a smaller lesser meaning belt then -- to have a formerly long reigning champ return to the ring and win their belt, that's something they could have marketed. Fed Holmes some tomato cans after the win to milk the old man champ thing for a bit.

I bet the WBO brass figured Holmes was showing up to be knocked out for a check and that's why they stripped Mercer. (yeah, yeah, he had a mandatory, but sanctioning bodies can pull whatever ****ery they want if they want)

It wouldn’t have beaten Foreman’s record because he won a belt.

The sport hasn’t been interesting enough for people to do that in years. Arguably, decades.
