This is bull****. Lewis was the prototype of the style that turned Wlad into a winner; he layed his masssive torso over the back of the smaller dude until smaller dude was utterly exhausted and then knocked him out. I blame Manny Steward.

    BS?
Rewatch the bout and counts the uppercuts got by Tyson.

I agree. FOTC Frazier probably makes it a bit more of a fight, and lasts a little longer but he ain't winning this one.

And Muhammad made it virtually impossible for George to land any more than one bomb at a time on his chin. After being tagged,Ali would cover up,move out of range or slip Foreman's shots.

Nope. They both had clearly superior chins to Frazier. I don't see why you're trying to argue otherwise. I honestly don't think Foreman had much more power than guys like Wilder or Ruddock or Lewis, but that Foreman was an overall better puncher (except Lewis). Sure, Foreman had ATG punching power, but people act like he could punch cinderblock walls into dust, where I guess Lewis, Wilder or Ruddock would just break their hands on a cinderblock wall.

Holyfield took punches from Tyson, Lewis, Mercer, Bowe, Moorer and even Foreman, albeit an older Foreman. No HW in history that we've seen thus far is stopping a non ancient Holyfield in 2 rounds.

You and JT gave me the MEAN GIRLs treatment when I first arrived here.

I was lucky to to make it through my first week. Please, I couldn’t take that again. Jk.:lol::lol:

    Agree with all you said.

Also, when Foreman buckled Chuvalo with that huge left hook, 1) the ropes saved Chuvalo in part and 2) after that punch, Chuvalo immediately covered up and wasn’t throwing and kept backing up thereafter.

He was in absolute survival mode, hanging in there for dear life.

Wise or not, every time he got bounced, Frazier got up and waded right back in - and that was against a more physically matured Foreman.

Very much against instinct, Joe was more defensively minded in the rematch but in no way was he ever running from Foreman. It just looked strange for Joe to be playing defence in any express fashion at all.

He came in very heavy (224 lb?) for more power I suspect but it was a weight that was somewhat counterproductive for the goal of maintained mobility. Yes, Joe still took some BIG shots in that one - super tough man.

By fights end, for all his measured output and overall pacing, George still looked a bit drained from his efforts. I think Foreman would’ve been very happy the fight ended when it did.

Joe had the right idea but still shipped too much punishment along the way.

Now you're just manufacturing strawmen at this point. I never once stated Frazier had better chins than McCall and Mercer. I stated even if he had a chin on their level, he still loses quickly and brutally with the punches he was taking as often as he did, and more importantly with the impact he absorbed from said punches due to his style.

Chuvalo's legendary chin didn't stop him from being stopped in 3 against a green, still developing (physically and as a fighter), Foreman.
I don't think Lewis was quite as hard a puncher as Foreman even if a better puncher overall.

Wilder probably hit just as hard, possibly even harder with that right hand but Foreman edges him everywhere else, and in a much more skilled fighter and infinitely a better finisher.

Similar to Ruddock, in that he only really had the smash but even that I don't think was quite as powerful as Foreman's best.

Here you go again with the strawmen. I never stated Foreman would stop Holyfield in 2. I stated IF Holy elected to slug with Foreman, as he had a tendency to do with big punchers, he's not lasting very long and Foreman could easily end it in 2.

Holy probably wouldn't elect to slug in the first two rounds though, and would probably box.

It was Joe’s heart … and he had tons of that … which kept him getting up in Kingston because after the second knockdown, the uppercut in the corner, even though he was on his feet and his eyes were open, IMO he was unconscious.

    I definitely hear you.

Just imo, I think perceived chin quality will often if not always comprise a measure of heart - and conversely all the heart in the world won’t enable you to rise if don’t also have the necessary physiological hardware of quality chin.

rewatch the bout and count the minutes where lewis is laying on tyson. it is what it is: ll layed across the back of tyson (with the cooperation of the ref) until mike was out of juice and then beat him down.
