True. He took more punishment in his fight with Ali than he did in the rest of his seventies bouts combined

I don't think it's necessarily genetic at all.

Foreman didn't take as much punishment. Most of his fights ended quickly. He was matched against a lot of easy opponents. He was only in a few wars. Some of his severest losses, his worst spells, were due as much to exhaustion than to the weight of the blows he received.
Some of the biggest punchers he fought in later years actually changed up their styles and boxed on the backfoot rather than setting and unloading their best shots.
I will say he took serious punishment against Holyfield, Stewart and Moorer, and some big shots from Lyle.

Ali took loads of punishment in his later years .... and most of it was in sparring !
He fought many fights that went 10, 15 rounds.
He let some of the best young fighters beat on him in training.

Frazier always took punishment. He also drank quite heavily.

Excellent point. Frank Lotierzo, one of my favorite boxing writers, wrote that the only man that really did hurt Foreman was Ron Lyle. The KO loss to Ali and the KD against jimmy young were more due to fatigue than to the force of the blows he suffered.

Ali and Frazier had great stamina to stay busy for fifteen rounds but accumulated a lot of damage late on in fights, especially against each other when they would rather die than quit. Joe's style was brutal to himself as well as others and Ali boxed many younger men over 15 in his "second" career. They took their damage younger than George too who got gassed out rather than sparked out as a young man. As an older and wiser fighter second time around, I am sure George would have got out if he felt he was taking too much. He had a touch more padding in his 40s to absorb the shots as well......

Morrison fought a great fight and clubbed the ears of Foreman.

I'm pretty sure Stewart hurt him, he looked like he was hit by a truck after that fight and quickly dawned on sunglasses right after the fight.

I don't think anyone has had a terrible life style such as Tyson, the man was abusing drugs like weed, coke, marijuana, viagra, cialis, having *** orgies, alcohol during his years between 20-43 like no tomorrow. But still if you look at him today, he speaks well, lives a healthy life style and looks fit for his age.

Holyfield is punch drunk even though he had a healthier life style. Lewis has really aged after retirement and has put on a few pounds but it's not like he cares

It's still unfolding for Holyfield, regarding all the punishment he's taken...he's a tragedy in the making.

For his age? Should be fit. Age shouldn't matter. There are some very unfit people at any age.
