Most of Foreman's fights were early KOs were he didn't take any damage. He's only had a very small amount of hard fights.
Frazier and Ali were attrition fighters that took many punches in the head.

Holyfield is already slurring his words. He'll probably be in a convalescent home in a decade or so.

It was a close fight against "Running man" Morrison. The fight with Holyfield was competitive, Foreman took bombs, but then Again, so did Holyfield. 48 year old Foreman beat undefeated Savarese and bombed Briggs from corner to corner only to get robbed, bigtime...the man was a beast...:)

Mainly he didn't take many beatings, but partly it's just luck. Tex Cobb and George Chuvalo are both doing fine (last I heard), yet a defensive whiz like Sweet Pea is very slurry now.

    Pretty much covered by everyone...
Personally i think a boxer who takes a few licks but lives a healthy lifestyle has a better chance than a guy who takes less shots but lives unhealthy.
Foreman has always seemed an intelligent well balanced fellow to me,although he is big he has always had a healthy disposition about him.
He seems a very positive guy as well....that helps with anybody in terms of their outlook on life.

Just watched Foreman-Briggs. Big George was professional all the way as usual..even in the prefight ref instructions Briggs was just lucky as hell that the officials were myopic....he was also VERY fortunate that this wasn't the YOUNG George Foreman that he was facing.

Foreman-Briggs was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

What countless wars? How do you account for Chuvalo being lucid and articulate?

We don't know enough about the human brain and its variations to even begin to answer this question. Wilfred Benitez, the defensive genius who took relatively few hard shots, is really bad off and incapable of fending for himself, while Jake Lamotta seemed to WANT opponents to hit him hard over many, many more fights and he's just fine at 93. There's just too many variations of things going on here.

He didn't he barely beat any top 10 fighters in his comeback aside from a fluke against Moorer.

Larry Holmes stills seems to be in fine mental shape although physically he's put on quite a bit of weight

I agree with Luck of the draw in regards to genetics. George, was always freakishly strong. Look at George Chuvalo who had a long career and tòok heavy punishment. He still speaks great. People are affected differently and we don't have all the reasons why.

foreman's style revolved around dishing it out.

frazier's was based on absorbing it to and killer blows. He had no choice but to accumulate damage.

alis post exile style became increasingly based on absorbing punishment as he slowed down, but the man didn't know when to quit. that and maybe bad genetics as the man said above. chuvalo is such a freaking anomaly too, makes you think!
