Not to mention a 36 year old WELL past his prime minus his snappy left jab version of Golota had two very close back to back fights with then champions Byrd and Ruiz, which many say he won both fights.

Those who claim Golota was overrated and the only reason he schooled Bowe was because Bowe was "shot" apparently have only watched Golota's melt downs with Tyson, Brewtser and Lewis. They are simply misinformed.

I thought the answer was fairly obvious as to why Golota was so effective against Bowe.

Riddick Bowe took to many headshots throughout his career, and not only that, but the amount of crap he was eating between fights eroded his skills over time. If that wasn't bad enough, the moment he won the world title, he wasn't training as hard as he used too. Riddick Bowe is a sad figure in Boxing. He had all of the ability and natural talent to beat Tyson and Lewis, in my opinion, but mentally he wasn't cut out for it.

Golota performed well, but he gets his ass beat against a '92 Riddick Bowe.

Golota beats ANY version of Bowe.

One of the most OVERRATED HW's in recent years.

Compare his resume to his counterparts and it is flat out weak.

  4. yea but Golota didn't "win"... :D

    Rubbish.

Prime Bowe has a much better jab, a faster right hand, and never had stamina issues. He went 12 unbelievably fast paced rounds against peak Holyfield in 92, yet he was visibly exhausted in both Golota fights halfway through. Just because you're Polish doesn't mean you need to act like that was peak Bowe in there. He barely fought another fight after the rematch, because he knew, his management knew, and the people knew, he wasn't the same fighter. Foreman even said this during the first fight, I believe.

    Big George was right.

So how can he possibly be an ATG?

Piggy backing off of the Holyfield wins forever?

Keep in mind Holy was a sick man in that 3rd fight which is well documented.

Imagine a Wlad or Vit dumping a belt into the garbage because they were terrified of facing there mandatory!!

Lol,I wasn't the guy who said he was an ATG in the opening post, just saying his resume is weak as his prime was very short.

Anyway I'd consider him and ATG but lower echalon ATG.

Really that big giant telegraphed overhand right was fast????Faster jab???Golota's jab nulified Bowe's jab.Golotas was faster better harder and more accurate.

Golota did everything smoother and cleaner than Bowe.

    Just because you are Polish:|

Bowe got beat up by the better fighter PERIOD.

HE NEVER FOUGT ANOTHER FIGHT BECAUSE GOLOTA MADE HIM HALF BRAIN DEAD.Find me a Bowe interview with him slurring the way he does now pre Golota.

i don't have problem with you saying that Golota was possibly the better fighter. but prime Bowe was definitely smoother.

Fair enough but some people here clearly didnt watch the ****ing fights or something. In there mind they see how Golota turned out and cant believe that it is possible for him to beat Bowe.

Golotas punches were shorter, faster and straighter than any version of Bowe's.

People are always going to try and discredit Golota and everything he has achieved. Just the way it has been, and apparently continues to be. Nobody wants to give the man his due.

He was a better fighter then Bowe. Period. That is why he won, back to back. Bowe was still a young fighter and in his prime. Just because Golota tapped that ass, doesnt mean automatically that Bowe was past his prime, or "shot", just means Golota was better.

    Now back to the excuses.

Age has little to do with determining somebody's status as a fighter. For instance Erik Morales was shot at 27 years old-ish.

Bowe had three hellacious fights with Holyfield, an underrated war with Coetzer and a slugfest with Herbie Hide. A lot of wear and tear on a body that Riddick didn't exactly take good care of either. Take all of that and add in the fact that Golota was a very good fighter when he felt like it and there ya go, recipe for disaster.

Golota was at his best that night. Unfortunately his career didn't exactly pan out the way it could've been.

Riddick Bowe was never an elusive target. He often took big shots against opposition that had no business being in there with him in the first place.

He took a lot of shots during his career, he lost his ambition after he won the title and therefore his eating habits and lack of training eroded his skills. This isn't all made up out of thin air. Look at Bowe in '92 and then Bowe is '96. Body isn't as lean, runs out of gas after 6-7 rounds, having tough time with below par opposition.

The ironic thing in all this is that as done as Bowe was, Golota couldn't even get him out of there.
