How did Golota beat an ATG great like Bowe? Believe me he wasn'

Agree with all of this. As per Bowe's brain damage, you can listen to him after he took on Larry Donald and see a small decline. Then before the 1st Golota fight at the presser he sounded funny. Golota sealed the deal in those two fights even though he didn't win them because he was an idiot.

Riddick Bowe used to have a good right hand. It was never text book, but the way he looped and telegraphed it in his second fight with Golota was ridiculous. He was operating purely on instinct and heart. The impressive display in those fights was not Golota's ability to dominate a shot fighter, but Bowe's heart. It was often questioned during the early days, but he put that to bed forever. He took silly punishment in Golota II.

For all of the Golota fans who deny that Bowe was a shot item by '96. Watch their second fight, and takes note as the man in Golota's corner says, "HE'S SHOT!"

    Yes, he was.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think a focused and determined Golota is the only threat to the Klit brothers at the moment. I see Vlad vs Golota playing out like Bowe vs Golota.

golota was beating fat bowe then went low and couldn't stop. he was beating thin bowe badly then went low and couldn't stop. bowe was a mucker that liked to swam guys and wear them down, golota liked distance to throw power. unlike a lot of bowe opposition golota was strong enough to keep his distance and keep bowe from crowding him. so why the nut shots? i think bowes plan did work. golota was tiring and that's why he fouled. any one? why would he give it away?

:patsch Yea, Bowe was totally and completely shot. Golota had nothing to do with it. :-(

    Please, spare us the bull****.

Golota beat Bowe BAD both times, even a focused and determined Bowe in their second fight. Golota had Bowes number, and Bowe simply could not deal with him.

People shouldn't be so surprised- boxing, especially at the HW level where there's always dangerous punchers, is filled with **** that happens in reality that people would say you were crazy for predicting. I think people want clear order in how to rank guys, but those rankings on paper can mean **** all in terms of what actually is going to happen in the ring. Sometimes, you just never know. You can call 5 fights correctly, and get so far off the 6th that you won't even want to mention it afterwards.

That's a big reason I don't take myself too seriously in fantasy matchups. Nobody predicted Bowe would get beat down like that, the same way nobody predicted some guy flying with a giant fan would land in the middle of the ring in another one of Bowe's fights.

Let's not forget-ATG's are humans, too, and they've all had days where they struggled or got beat by guys who "had no business" doing it. Sometimes it's an off day, sometimes the opponent is more game than expected....just comes with the territory of the sport.

As short as Bowes career was, he took a lot of punishment. His defense was very lacking and he would just walk into big blows. Herbie Hide hit him with everything but the kitchen sink. So did Holyfield. It also didn't help that Bowe didn't stay in shape. I'm sure he was on the downside by the time Golota got to him. His speach patterns were slurred even before the second Golota fight. I watched an interview of him on ESPN before the second fight and couldn't understand a word he was saying. Then he went on to take another terrible beating.
It can't be denied that Golota was a great talent who would have one a championship had he had his head on straight. He was one of the most talented heavyweights of his time. He just could never put it all together. He seemed to be his own worst enemy.

Bowe was NEVER anywhere near an ATG ROFL Riddick Bowe ran from Lennox Lewis like a coward. Fair enough he beat Holyfield, he did NOT knock him out though. But dont forget how much bigger than Evander Bowe was. Who else did Bowe really beat of consequence??? No One
Golota kicked his ass twice before going nutso
Bowe was NEVER a true champion

He knocked Holy out the third time around.Bowe wasn't that much bigger than Holy...Holy is 6'2 1/2 while Bowe is close to 6'5. For hw that isn't much of a difference.

Bowe was fine in both those fights, the difference was Golota was better in both. The Foul Pole had a great jab & he fought good on the inside where Bowe usually dominated his opponents.

Bowe is highly overrated here at ESB.
