No, it was a bit of a mess and a bad match up for Fury. Although he took the win he did not look at all impressive.
From those few shots, it looks like it was a mess of a brawl, with Rudenko leading with his head and Hughie unable to keep him away.
He did better as I expected against such a huge step up and after a layoff. But I'm not impressed by Hughie
From what I hear...... Not worthy of TV time. But still, @20 y/o, boasting a 14,15-0 record against solid Clevel, and NOW , Blevel comp........Hughie needs some exposure. And American television had an opportunity to do that yesterday. So it's HBOs loss. :huh
to be fair Hughie is just after turning 20 and has been out for almost a year ill and in his comeback fight he beats someone who is better than anyone Joshua has faced and before Stiverne better than anyone Wilder has faced
20 years old after coming back from an illness going in with and beating someone like Rudenko, credit to him.
I didn't see the fight but to beat a tough opponent like Rudenko, who arguably beat Lucas Browne and who clearly takes a great shot, is very impressive, especially given his age and the fact that he was making a huge leap up in class after coming back from a long layoff due to illness. Peter Fury says he's going to packing on plenty of quality muscle within the next six months so hopefully his power is going to improve a fair bit too.
How was that a loss for HBO? It was a dull fight from a nobody. They got lucky. Maybe one day Hugie will be TV material like Tyson but today is not the day.
