Could someone who knows there history explain to me how boxing has ended up with all of the alphabet titles? I can't see how it would happen ,surely after there were two sanctioning bodies they would have realised there was no need for third and so on.

    :huh

In my opinion, it all boils down to money. The more championship belts out there, the more money to be made off title fights. Not only more sanctioning bodies but why not raise the question about the many divisions in weight class.

For instance, when I was younger, there was lightweight, welterweight, middleweight etc. Now there's Junior Lightweight, Lightweight, Super Lightweight-------- and it goes on for just about every weight division.

More champions on paper, more title fights, more money for the sanctioning bodies.
