Two guys I really rate at heavyweight (as top gate keepers atleast) in fights that are really below their levels, however Gomez did need to get revenge for the Wilson stay busy fight last night so this fight is somewhat excusable. Anyway just want to know if anyone seen the fights and how did they look. I know the both won by KO and there weights weren't great but thats all i know.
UBP should make a Chagaev-Gomez, Chagaev-Boytsov or a Gomez-Boytsov fight. No reason for those three to continue to fight journeymen.
just read that Gomez got dropped at the end of rd 3 ,but they stop the fight in rd 4 because a cut above wilson's eye.
Damn, doesn't sound like it was a good performance as i had thought, maybe JCG is getting on a bit :-(
Yeah, he was hurt badly by Ding who was walking striaght through his pushing R jabs again. Ding landed the harder shots, and the cut may or may not have been caused by a punch. There's likely to be a change to NC IMO.:think
Your absolutely correct. But if UBP is looking to cash out on Gomez name, it'll be Boystov getting the scalp. Gomez is still a big name, and he's showing signs of losing punch resistance. A perfect match of slow defense and weakening chin for the hypejob Boystov to jump the rankings with.:-(
Gomez looked old and slow, but was still easily outboxing Wilson through 2 1/2 rounds. Actually, until the last twenty seconds of the 3rd round. Then Wilson knocked him down with a wild right haymaker, and Gomez was saved by the bell. Then early in the 4th they pulled Wilson out due to a cut. :conf Kind of anticlimactic. As for Chagaev, he looked fat and slow, but not terrible. Gave Zumbrun a short boxing lesson and then shattered his face.
JCG is truly and well finished, why does he keep on fighting? as for Chagaev, he's never gonna be even a shadow of his former self, just another aging journey-man
Both true statements, but Chagaev can at least cash in a few more times without getting humiliated. I'm not sure Gomez can. He was very, very lucky to escape with the win today. I guess that makes him and Ding even, since I felt he deserved the nod in their first meeting (despite having a broken left hand early and only using his right jab for most of it) Maybe a rubbermatch, otherwise retire. Chagaev would blast out Gomez or Wilson at this point. (and in turn, get blasted out just as quickly and easily by either Klitschko)
If Gomez cant manage to beat Wilson he should certainly retire for his own good. Gomez was an excellent technician who dominated CW like holyfield himself. He could have make some waves at HW but his lack of dedication was his worse enemy.I never forget his loss to Yanqui Diaz, didnt train more than 3 days and came so out of shape to the fight. But the guy knew his boxing, a natural.
did chaggy look as bad as his weight would suggest..and how did he box..always had a soft spot for chaggy but he seems to be letting himself go..the guy got skills tho..missed the action couldnt find it anywhere
