Gomez should just retire. He had his prime wasted thanks to Universum, and the shock loss to Diaz didn't help either. Which sucked because he had massive potential at HW.
His jab was still serviceable, and he was turning his shots over.. I mean, the extra baggage definitely hindered his speed. He was a bit slow, but against Zumbrun it didn't matter. It was target practice.
chagaev was always fodder for a klitchko... he doesn't look all that different than his 'best' tho a little heavy. JCG looked done vs Vitaly and that was like 3 years ago or more (i know vitaly is elusive for a big guy but the former cw champ and esteemed boxer could barely muster a meaningful punch if memory serves). Sounds like this performance with now past his best ding reaffirms jcg's irrelevance (sadly)
Gomez - Shot. But easily outboxed Gomez until that KD, and would have been stopped without that BS cut stoppage, Gomez is done. Chageav - Err, He was a bit outta shape, But he easily beat Zumbrun, Smashed him in 3. So not unimpressed, not surprised. Decent showing, this isn't prime Chageav nor shot Chageav.
Clearly carrying too much fat but it didn't effect his performance. In truth he dominated and landed at will against a nothing opponent in fairness. A bit similar to his last fight against Manswell where he was unlucky not to get the KO after winning every round despite again carrying to much fat. He's not shot, his hand speed and reflexes are still there and I think Povetkin got somewhat lucky he fought him when he did. Chagaev looked very rusty in that fight. Despite being over weight he looks sharper now. I'm wondering if Vitali is considering him as a possible opponent for his next fight? Chagaev probably needs a fight like that in order to focus him and see him get himself in shape. Ideally I want to see Vitali fight Boystov next but this wouldn't be a bad choice if that isn't possible.
im abit gutted tbh hes got in this bad of a shape..at this stage in his carrer he just isnt going to get it back off..we are now seeing the end of him..i hope im wrong tho cause he has got some great technical skills
When is that fat **** Solis going to be fighting again? It's so sad cuz that guy looks like he has some good skills and could be a force if he could only keep his fat ass away from the buffet table.
Fighting in a few weeks against Airich for the IBF Inter-Continental title which will see him get right back amongst the rankings should he win.
At least we got to squeeze a bit more juice out of him. :conf A few middling victories to garnish his resume, and a memorable battle with Povetkin. Most of us were quite certain "the end of him" was Wladimir Klitschko.
agreed..i still feel he had alot more to offer.after all he did fight wlad on short notice..really disapointed up to know how hes ended up
