He just didn't adjust very well once Calzaghe did.

That's not to say his performance was bad, because he looked very good against Calzaghe. Calzaghe was just the better fighter that night with the better plan.

Kessler is still an awesome fighter.

From a post fight Kessler interview:

"If a football player (soccer player), due to some foot injury misses out on some training sessions before vital matches then this player will loose some of his touch. That's obvious.

It's true that I most likely put too much effort into punching hard and for that reason didn't put on full pressure on Calzaghe, the way Montoya would have liked. My danish coach, who knows me from top to toe, have always been very good at creating calmness and make it stay there during a fight. Unfortunately the calmness did not pay out when Calzaghe changed tactics. My timing was gone, so far gone that I no longer was able to adopt any coherent pressure strategy."

Now correct me if I'm wrong but Kessler himself seems to be saying the hand had no effect on him during the actual fight but the effect it did have was to shorten his training time. He also seems to be saying that Calzaghe beat him because he 'changed tactics' which I pointed out in an earlier post.

Anyway...I don't want to appear to critisise Kessler as I truly think he is an honorable warrior and I have great respect for him, I actually hope he wins the Tournament.

I thought this was a masturfull performance from Calzaghe, and still a great fight from kessler's end too. Joe was simply too much, too awkward for Kessler's style

    :good

It was really A+ boxing from both. It was what you'd expect from two guys at the top of the game. Kessler's boxing was fundamental and superb but Calzaghe just was too unorthodox.

    during the fight..? nope..

it wasnt kessler or palle that released anything.. actually kessler later stated, that he didnt want joe to know, as it would give him a mental edge.. that kinda blows you little argument away, go figure :yep

are you finished guessing or trying to manipulate the truth..

kessler injured his hand, couldtn train as usual, fought with it and post fight, had a surgery.

JC has too many glaring defensive problems to ever be described as the complete package.

Manipulate the truth? I already said in a previous post I jumped the gun. I was judging Kessler with the same brush as the other bullsh*tters. Check my 2 previous posts.

    :huh

Kessler didn't have air after 6 top class rounds and came back with a good finsh in 11 and 12 round...
from round 7 and forward Kessler was losing the rounds because he missed alot of powershots and needed air... the missing sparring would affected everybody...

maybe his condition was at 80%...

a shame we didn't see a rematch in Denmark

kessler got out thought and out strategised in the ring, thats all there was to it

calzaghe was a more intuitive, learning fighter

you rarely see that much tactical change by a fighter in the ring any more

Kessler is a good fighter not a great fighter.

Calzaghe dominated the weakest division oin boxing for a decade, Kessler was another honourable guy but average champion ina long list of average champions @ supermiddle.

Robin Reid gave Calzaghe a better fight.

    Brewer did.

Kesslers power is over rated, I didnt see Calzaghe troubled too much. He aint a shot BEyer/bum Lucas.
