How did he look? Was he winning convincingly at the time of the stoppage?

he looked absolutely thrilled when the doctors called the fight off.

    before that he looked shot

but he gave some good early rounds, its too bad he doesn't focus more on his boxing skills. he only did bad when he started to slug in the late rounds

Looked like ****... Jones was the better man on the night. Fortunately for Margarito the ref, judges and local commission bailed him out.

He looked fine for about 4 rounds, but he was headbutted early, and his eye started going, making him a sitting target, I see nothing wrong with the doctors decision, when a fighter can't defend themselves adequately from an accidental injury, they have no other option than to pull them out of the fight. I thought Jones was a bad stylistic matchup for him when the fight was announced and feared for the safety of his eye, Jones can be reckless and wild, and as I suspected, there was a clash of heads, and Jones tried his best to take advantage of it. The round stopping 20 seconds early was due to all the tape issues most likely, and I see no evidence Tony was close to be stopped in that one, he was worst off in the 7th, and didn't go down in that one either. Margarito's comeback has been very entertaining, but at this point he should either stay in his lane and face more Paez/Alvarez level guys or retire.

Too bad to hear. Thought maybe they could trot him out one more time at MSG to be thoroughly gored. Sounds like that can't sell.

Sounds like he'll make good cannon fodder as Canelo's "comeback" fight once they begin rebuilding him after GGG.

I've always maintained AM was vastly over rated C level fighter but last night made me respect him as a warrior. He was soundly beaten and ready to be tko'd in the 7th. Quite obvious he could NOT last another full round.

Saying that, both marg and Jones were putting on career type performances. Marg was surely in the fight through 5 rounds but rounds 6 and 7 were startling in favor of jones.

I called for the "upset" from the first mention of the fight. Both Jones and marg dug deep and put on a true battle. While watching all I was thinking about was how badly either would destroy conor acquitted. Both i think could stop him in 8 brutal beat down rounds.

For marg the fighter he looked great, looked like the marg from the cotto fights but he couldn't hurt Jones even slightly. Depends who he fights, cotto would hurt him, he should be begging for mcquitter, mcquitter probably truly believes he could hang with him and get the gift, too bad there's no real way he lasts 10

Why? Do you think that the plaster was somehow causing him discomfort and interfering with his guacamole punching this time around north of the Rio Grande?:risas3:

Maybe when his severely injured eyeball literally explodes he will get the message that it's best to retire before his other eyeball decides to do the same..
