How did Mosley, Cotto, and GGG withstand Canelo’s punches better than Kovalev?

    Levels.

Cotto is a step shy of being an ATG and actually had a very good chin, and much better defense.

Kovalev has always looked somewhat soft and specially now he’s shot, and the fact that Canelo is carrying some power up. P4P, MW Canelo hits harder than LHW Canelo, but p4p cotto is a much better fighter.

As I said, FW, LW, WW and MW are usually the most stacked divisions, just by sheer number of participants. So a LW moving up to WW is moving up to fight a bigger guy who’s the same level of opposition at LW or usually better, so it’s double the challenge.

A MW moving up to LHW is usually giving up size but fighting a lower level opposition.

    Of course there’s exceptions.

No, it wasn't a dive. Kovalev just has a really glass jaw. He was badly hurt and stopped by feather-fisted Andre Ward, was KTFOed by feather-fisted Eleider Alvarez.

Cotto was able to anticipate and see everything coming. Kovalev gassed, and when he was hurt in that instance, had no notion of the follow up right hand coming.

This still amazes me. GGG has a chin of steel and I think that punch would have KO’d Kovalev as well.

If Cotto was more skilled, why did he lose 116-112? In non-controversial fashion. Yet on most everyone's scorecards Kovalev was well up going into the 11th?

Calling this a dive is by far the most idiotic thing Ive read on this forum in a while.

See the pattern? The last prime fighters Canelo fought was Liam Smith and Austin Trout.

Andre Ward stated Canelo was facing Kovalev, not the Krusher. Maybe he saw a mixture of things and decided to worded in general. Regardless, what a brutal KO.

Every fighter and fight is different.

Always been whispers about Kovalev's punch resistance going back to his absolute peak, let alone post-prime. Some take it better than others.

Simple. Kov is close to being shot to bits alcoholic and Clenelo is a different animal to Canelo for obvious reason

Agree. Next one is a cruiser weight, as I’ve told there is Shumenov and some fighter with super champ belt. Shumenov is far from being the greatest plus I would say quite old now.
