How did Oscar lost to Pacquiao?

Oscar De La Hoya lost to Manny Pacquiao because he became insane for 40 minutes. His brain stopped working. He was technically in a coma while he was fighting on muscle memory alone. He contracted Alzheimer's Disease somewhere around rounds 3-4, but then cured himself 2 minutes after the fight ended. Period.

I'll have to wait for Oscar to re-release his book and make it up to date, therefore he can make, in full detail, an excuse on why he was dominated by Pac.

    1. Bad oysters the night before the fight?
    2. Bad sunburn?
    3. Old shoulder injury acting up in the middle of a fight making him abandon his jab and stick his face out in hopes the opponent breaks his hand?

I am hoping there is an even more fantastic excuse for this one.

You know Popkins, you argue well and make good points from time to time. I like to think you're not a bad guy. But when you start acting like a drama queen little fanboy, you really end up ruining the good stuff you throw out there. What happened to you in your life to make you this defensive and snarky? And where do you get off being such a rude little ****? I don't understand this behavior, frankly because I figured I could offer a tidbit about dehydration and weight loss NOT BECAUSE I HAVE AN AGENDA, but because I thought it was worth sharing for knowledge's sake.

But of course you have to get your panties all up in a twist because you think someone's taking a pot shot at your hero. Am I a *****? Do you think I'm out to discredit Pacquiao's legacy? Try not to be such an *******.

combination of dlh being too big for 147 and running into a fighter like pac-man resulted in a one-sided ass kicking.

The reality of it all is that Pacquiao was too good for ODLH at that stage in their careers. Roach pretty much publicly said he felt ODLH was shot when he had trouble pulling the trigger in sparring and reportedly got worked over by Ivan Calderon of all people.

In conjuction with the fact that Pac was too good for him...his training was questionable. He sparred well over 300 rounds reportedly and when fight night came he only went up from 147 to 149 (which, in a twist, made Pacquiao the bigger man in the fight). Be that as it may, it wouldn't have mattered if Eddie Futch came in and trained ODLH, he didn't have a chance.

Oscar made weight 3 weeks before the fight. The "effects" of weight draining as you mention didn't show up on Oscar until the middle of the 5th round. Oscar lost rounds 1-5 as well.

De La Hoya was weight drained. I remember when I came to school and everyone was clowning De La Hoya saying he was a punk quitter etc. The when I saw the fight on HBO Oscar looked like a old man. I was like dang what is wrong with Oscar. It was a good win for Pac because he took the challenge by moved up in weight. It is not a great win because Oscar had iv marks on his arms and he hadn't fought at welter in 10 years.

the biggest mistake Oscar made was making the fight...even if he won, people would be saying Pac was a smaller guy...it was a lose/lose for oscar

Reason 1 is actually far from being your worst reason to come up with because there is a good possibility on that. As well as the reason 4 which although the worst you can think of, still not out of possibility (hey, there are atleast a few "gifted" persons who thinks that way). But both 1 and 4 are just a product of how the fight has ended.

If the fight was just close, noone would ever come up with a possibility of reasons 1 and 4. Then we could all say a prime dela hoya beats Pacquiao.

I don't think you can easily say that now without going on through a debate lol.

Roach came out and said he had fresh IV marks on his arms at the end of the fight, that should be proof enough.

weight drained and unable to oull the trigger anymore

A Prime Oscar v Pacquiao? Different story

    Same in Pacquiaos carrear....

Barrera - try fighting the one that beat Naz
    Marquez - Beat him twice
Morlaes - Not the same figure he was a year before pacquiao
Oscar - weight drained, should have fought at 154 as per normal.
Hatton - not the same fighter like when he fought Tyuzu or even mayweather
Clottey - beaten by Cotto, a poor fighter
    Margarito - demolised by Mosley
    Mosley - demolished by Mayweather

What's that got to with anything? Beristain is hardly going to admit it if that's what happened because it makes him look bad as a trainer. His prediction on Pacquiao against Mayweather is largely based on hype and the confidence he as a trainer has to maintain in his fighter and is of no relevance whatsoever to him spotting the IV marks on Oscar's arms.

    So can Pacquiao :good

Oscar lost because he was beaten by the better, fresher, faster, younger man. Pre fight not many gave Pacquiao much of a chance, even tho Oscar was coming down two weight classes.

Father time caught up with him, and Pac punished him in there. Don't really need a poll.
