How did Rogan get a title shot?

    Yeah hes pretty good. But I dont see how he got a title shot. Lookin around to other posters did I miss something? Rogan beat Matt Skelton and Audley which were huge wins but that was awhile ago.

    Martin Rogan will take on Panama's Lewis Andreas Pineda for the vacant WBU heavyweight title at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on 27 October.

    Rogan's placard, sitting among a plethora of microphones and recording devices, simply read 'The next heavyweight champion of the world' and it wasn't long before his daughter unveiled a gigantic poster at the back of the function room that revealed he would be fighting for the WBU version.

    "This will be the first ever 'world' heavyweight title fight in Ireland and the WBU picked me and Pineda to fight because they think that I am the man to revive this belt."

    “It is a World title belt, I don’t make the belts, I just fight for them. This is massive for Belfast, massive in every way." said Rogan

    Its even on boxrec OCT 27 in Northern Ireland.

    he means it's not even close to being a serious world title, nobody takes the WBU seriously.

    Apperently Matt Skelton held that 'World title' for almost 4 years (02-2005/01-2009) without defending it once, and with a WBA titleshot inbetween! :lol:

    I think the money that will be brought in for filling the Odyssey Arena in Belfast (15'000) for fighting a **** fighter from Panama is why he is been given the shot. That will make the WBU or whatever they're called a tidy sum.

    On another note, dangerous Sintung Kietbusaba (11-7, 10KO) is fighting good old Shannan Taylor (51-10-3, 36KO) for the vacant WBFoundation Middleweight title.
    That puts him in the mix with Maravilla, Geale, Pirog and Sturm... they better watch their backs! :yep
