How did showtime F*** up Bute/Froch

Because they only have 1 more fight on Bute's contract, And want his fight with Ward on Showtime. Idk why they didn't just extend the contract, Bute-Froch is good.

 

But Showtime was ready and wanted to make this last contract fight with Andre Dirrell or Bernard Hopkins. It's difficult to understand why Showtime was ready to put the dollars with these two names and say no for Buté-Froch.

 

Well, when they had to replace the fighters that got out of the tournament, they went for Allan Green, an American, and Glen Johnson, almost an American. Sakio Bika was not officially a super 6 fight. Showtime want to air American fighters. They wanted Bute only to lose to Ward. That was the plan: hype Bute, then Ward wins against him and becomes a big star. That is still their plan except Ward doesn't want to fight Bute, at least for the moment. Is he waiting because he wants to fight on HBO? Maybe. First, he'll have to convince Showtime to accept someone else than Bute for his last fight with them. Bute is available, if he wins against Froch, he'll be a legitimate opponent, the only one for the moment.

If Interbox was sure that Bute would fight Ward next, they would have agreed on an extension of Bute's contract. They didn't. Showtime got angry and said no to air Froch-Bute. I think it's more a business conflict than a boxing decision.

i heard showtime did not want to promote to non us fighters for a big ppv fight. if either fighter was fighting a american they wold have been all over it. but they feel us fans dont know froch like that and they dont no bute at all. either one of those guys vs a guy like hopkins they would have been all over it.

But why in LV? That'd be stupid. In NY, there'd be at least 5k more people in attendance, and Ward has already fought on the East Cost.:deal

 

Me too. I switched to Verizon like 2 months before Epix had there first fight. Great channel a lot of good movies on demand too. They are really like our own Euro channel that shows good overseas fights that the other networks have no interest in but us hardcore fans do.

 

No one is blaming Bute and Bute isn't doing anything to void his contract with Showtime he still has one fight left on his deal. If anything he is getting the most respect he's gotten in his whole career for taking on Froch by any means knowing if he loses the Ward fight is done and he'll be losing a lot of money. And Froch is definitely in this fight its 60-40 in favor of Bute in my opinion. And if he beats Froch then Ward vs Bute will happen on Showtime.

 

Well with Hopkins its obvious. An American legend at future hofer and a star in the states. And Dirrell is also American and is young and is hyped up so if he beat Bute then Showtime would make Dirrell vs Ward finally happen. Both Hopkins and Dirrell would be bigger fights to the US public and if they won Ward vs Dirrell/ Hopkins would be bigger then Ward vs Bute. Plus a win over Dirrell and esppppp Hopkins would've gotten Bute a lot of buzz in the states thus making Ward vs Bute even bigger. Those were win/ win fights for Showtime this one isn't. If Froch wins then what's the next best fight for Ward that would be as big as Dirrell/ Hopkins/ Bute? Froch rematch? I'll pass. This was strickly a business move and a smart one. And best of all we the fans still get to see this fight and hopefully more great ones in the future.

Looks like after his next fight Ward will go to HBO.He says they were negotiating a 2 fight deal with Bute 1 in Oakland 1 in Vegas.

 

Vegas is where the big fights happen but I have no problem it being at MSG and I will have my tickets.
