I was flicking between all the channels trying to keep up with all the progress but must have missed the Sprott vs Brewster fight which I am pretty gutted about. Every time I clicked on Setanta it was either the Arthur Abraham vs Simon fight, a fight with two other german looking guys and two female boxers. So did he come through ok or was it another step too far for a British fighter?
He didn't do anything. He went backwards throwing weak jabs all fight. He threw about 3 right hands all night. He allowed himself to get outworked, which is an achievement, because Lamon didn't do much himself and suffered from poor stamina. The fight looked like Brewster plodding around throwing the occasional combo, and Sprott flicking a jab and covering up. The scoring was fair.
he fought negatively for most of the fight looking to last the distance. he did not spoil though. in the last 2 rounds sprott stood his ground a lot more and let his hands go, but brewster has a good chin and good power and the only way sprott could have won would have been to outhustle brewster and win on points from the get go. brewster was in better physical shape than he has been albeit he still gassed in round 7 and 8.
i fast-forwarded it for most of it and managed to see all the punches as there was one thrown every 20 seconds by sprott just back peddling it. be pleased you didnt watch it it was crap till the last two rounds. even his knockdowns i thought was crap cause it was on the bell and he only went down because he thought it was the end of the round and was surprised.
I thought this was going to be a good fight but sprott was terrible. He was running the whole fight and Brewsters corner made chicken noises. Was really disappointed. Scoring was fair as some said above.
That's a pity, looks ike Sprott is just after some final pay days. I always liked Sprott, especially the night he banjoed Fraudley...one of the most memorable nights of boxing ever.
He didn't really run and he didn't hold. He just boxed on the retreat against a plodder and only threw don't hit me punches so he would last the distance. Some future fights with Sauerland guaranteed after a showing like that. He had about as much likelehood of winning the fight as Josef Fritzl has making a guest appearance in My Family.
it was an utter shite fight be glad you missed it all he did was step back with a nothing jab, he looked scared of brewster, the commentaters were up his arse though i only gave him 1 round the 2nd
