I myself haven't seen the fight, so i cant comment on that. But often times judges are just incompetent. (i often wonder what it takes to be a judge) MMA had/has a huge problem with boxing judges judging MMA bouts. The **** do they know about wrestling or other combat sports? And i highly doubt that judges get any serious training.
I haven't either. To be honest even though I dislike Farmer it is disappointing. I was really looking forward to Tank beating the dog **** out of Farmer lol. And the issue with boxing is there is so many subjective ways of scoring a fight. Like some judges score going forward as "ringer generalship" even if the guy on the backfoot is controlling the action. Also how do you score clean hard shots over multiple grazing/weaker shots. For example does one clean straight beat out 5 non flush grazing hooks? Now some judges are just straight up incompetent but I do think that there should be a more clear concise way to judge a fight.
It's not that black or white, but given the number of posters who are scoring for Ogawa we need to realise it wasn't some corrupt scoring crap. It was a close fight that was skewed heavily by biased commentary. The decks were stacked in favour of Farmer who had pretty much every advantage, and also had the attractive future bout with Davis. No sense to rob him and his story for a visitor who isn't even backed well at home
Hey Sean! Long time is right. Hope you and your family are well. I don't post as much of late. Work has been grueling and time consuming. I thought Farmer won - probably 7-5. Ogawa was clearly the aggressor most of the night plus he throws a sneaky right hand down middle that is sometimes hard to spot. Especially against Farmer who used his hands to try to parry a lot. The announcers failed to call almost any of those. Farmer is a decent fighter but he can get lazy and needs to learn how to win rounds.
Tevin Farmer's team has formally requested that the IBF order a rematch with Kenichi Ogawa: http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/21942483/tevin-farmer-requests-rematch-kenichi-ogawa I think there'll be a rematch. Gervonta Davis is too lazy and too... protected to go to Japan anyway.
