Just interested to c how u scored the 3rd round , If it was not for Cotto's hand touching the canvas I thought Cotto won the round so I scored that round 9-8 to Pacquiao ? Agree or is it always a 10-8 round

It's always 10-8 unless he's putting on an absolute clinic after getting knocked down

9-9. Cotto boxed well before the knockdown and comeback well afterwards. It's not 9-8 to Pacquiao because you don't lose 2 points for a knockdown, it's always one. The reason it's scored 10-8 is -1 point for losing the round + -1 for the KD. If it was 2 points for KD then it would go to 10-6 after another knockdown not 10-7.

Exactly. It was clearly a 10-8 round under standard scoring rules.

Why? So five seconds guarentee's him a 10-8 round? Cotto clearly won the rest of it, therefore it's clearly a 9-9 round.

    Wasn't it a 10 point must system?

Therefore a 9-9 round without point deductions wouldn't exist?

It's a definite 10-8 round. It just is. One guy might be a bit ahead in the round but if he is ruled to be knocked down then tough ****. It's not like you can have someone narrowly ahead then they get knocked down and it's all of a sudden an unusual score. That isn't how it works. The knockdown negates their work unless they've put their man down too.

They got it from that idiot Lampley. He said this during the telecast and I thought to myself "WTF, don't these jerks know **** about boxing scoring?" :rofl

I think what they mean to say is that it should be a 10-9 round!

Yeah, i had it 9-9. I thought Cott contolled himself and the fight up until the 2nd KD. All Pac from that point on.

Sorry guys but 9-9 is bull****. If a fighter scores a kd but loses the rest of the round he wins the round but by 10-9 instead of 10-8. That's why 2 of the official judges actually did score it 10-9.

The reasoning behind this is probably that outboxing a guy doesn't weigh as heavy as putting a guy on his ass.
