Kind of wanted to know the answer to this myself... Wonder if anyone made some dollars off this one. Verdejo looked real good a few years back
I really thought he would become World Champion. He was the one of the best prospect a couple of years ago. The motorcycle incident might be the turning point in his career.
Verdejo lacked discipline.. Suffered a number of injuries and some of them due to his own fault.. It was a matter of time before this happened.. You could see the decline started in his last 2 or three fights
Looks like Verdejo ends up the next JuanMa light. He was mad about the stoppage, but turns out that even if they let him continue and he wasn't KO'd or dropped again, he still would have lost on the cards anyway.
the disipline is the one thing I;ve always been dismayed with in Verdejo. Sometimes he starts brawling... needs to temper his agression. Just starts swinging. Anyways... i was a Verdejo hypebeast, I feel inadequate now.
I had the other guy winning by a point at the time of the stoppage, he started out well, but when the opponent came on he ran out of gas and was being physically moved by his punches.
I thought he was gonna be great at first and dont get me wrong he did ok for a bit. Really looked promising and I thought PR had finally found their new champ but that was years ago then everything got stuck and he started looking sloppy.. Ohh well.. Someday
Watched the fight last night. Verdejo started alright. Im not sure of the cards but I didn't see him winning at the time of the stoppage. He had good punches but he needed more of it. Lozada put on the pressure big time and his out put was high plus he had a few inches in height on him. By the 8-9 Verdejo was in deep waters and was starting to lose mentality. By the 10th he lost all composure. Corner stopped it after being knocked down. Too much. Too soon for the kid.
