Lots of great comments about Tommy Hearns, but he ranks at #3 on my list of all time favorites. Here's a video of my #1, and I don't think I need to explain why I rate him so high, = From Mangua Nicaragua; MISTER Alexis Arguello - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MskyGZGLQMI[/ame]
fair enough, but nothing is more exciting or entertaining to me personally than a toe to toe war,and every fight arturo had invariably turned into a war.
Before there was Gatti, there was Danny "Little Red" Lopez; #2 on my all time favorites list. If you're not familiar with Little Red, it's worth your time to watch this video:yep - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdaVSVefmck&feature=related[/ame]
Hopkins. he's only been hurt in one fight despite being an old fart for a long time and what's not to like about a criminal who robs other criminals because he knows they won't go running to the cops? talk about intelligence in ignorance.
Shane Mosley- Growing up I loved the Sugars and the only one still with relevance to my childhood was Shane(Well....Leonard to but we know what happened vs Camacho:-(). I wanted to be a Sugar soooo bad and still do in a way.
As a child I rooted for my dad's favorite guy, Hagler. As an adult, Gatti moved me. Emotionally, what he went through in the ring was a synopsis of life overcoming adversity and I will probably never get that excited about a fighter again.
i have more than one favorite but de la hoya, cotto and mosley are my 3 all time favorite fighters and i like them all because of their fighting styles and for fighting the best.
Mayweather- The Gernaro Hernandez fight Hopkins- The Trinidad fight Lewis- The Golota fight, and especially after the first Holyfield fight
cotto...... i never seen a body shot like these... http://i36.tinypic.com/1655lf.gif http://i33.tinypic.com/i23u43.gif
Lewis Lewis. It was my grandfather who got me hooked. Used to train me on the pads when I was a nipper. So even before my teens boxing was in my blood. Around 85, (I'd be 10) we got cable and I could watch live American boxing for the first time. 1986 I became aware of Tyson, he was the guy who captured my attention 100%, a machine, like Arnold in the movie. So 4 years go by, none shall pass, the guy is a one man wrecking crew then BAM, time stops, ****, who the **** is Douglas? By co-incidence the UK media was starting to get on the Lewis bandwagon, figured I'd have a peak. 91 was a pivotal year. I watched Tyson have two great fights with Ruddock and saw Lewis bomb out Mason. Then the bomb goes off, no Holyfield - Tyson, the man was gone. Figured 'oh well, guess I'll watch more of this Lewis guy'. The rest is history.
Erik Morales - I was almost 10 and had just began boxing, sitting in a pub in Dublin watching a replay of his fight with McCullough the day after. Seeing El Terrible get hit then throw his hands up to say "Lets GO!", and attack with that right hand.. :smoke Fernando Vargas - Watching his fight with Quartey when I was a nipper.. I fell in love after this and have ben since!
Lennox Lewis was totally bad to the bone.... I remember watching him before he was the champion, just knowing it was only a matter of time. True all time great, formidable opponent for any ATG.:yep
