How Did You Feel Right After The Hopkins-Calzage Decision?

Thought it was close but a clear win for Calzaghe.

 

I was thinking, joe cortez you're a ****ing disgrace how you reffed this fight when you refereed mayweather v hatton with a completely different set of rules just a few weeks before. I remember thinking that I was glad that Hopkins lost the decision because one man came to put it all on the line for the fans and have a tare up and one man came to hold, to spoil, to feign injury, and turn the fight into an unwatchable event for the fans.

It was a terrible fight but Calzaghe deserved it more than Hopkins, B-Hops over-reliance on defence cost him, his workrate was absolutely dire not to mention stupid vs an active fighter like Calzaghe, landing one good clean punch every round (if that) is not the way to go about things.

Once Hopkins faked the low blow in round 10 or 11 to catch a breather I knew who had won the fight & so did Hopkins, Joe`s pace was too much for him that night & justice was done when the right man got the decision.

 

At the time I fought Joe had schooled him tbh. Later I rewatched and had it for bhop but the last time I watched it I scored again for Joe.

 

I remember thinking that the biggest losers would be the fans.
As a fan of Bernard,I was disappointed by his play acting,and I knew we'd never hear the end of Calzaghe in the UK because I felt this fight was misrepresentative of what a win over Hopkins should really have meant.

 

I thought "Oh well, Bernard was the more efficient boxer, but Joe deserved that".

 

My sentiments exactly. It was a very close fight, but that fact it was in America, against an American legend, I was stunned that Joe got the nod.

I actually thought Bernard landed the better punches but too few, Joe's work rate really troubled him as the fight went on.. I thought Joe won a close but clear fight.

 

Like I had just watched a John Ruiz fight with all the clinching, holding, grabbing, wrestling, and faking low blows Hopkins was doing it was a disgrace.

I agree with this. I had Calzaghe winning by a couple of points.

 

I knew be4hand that Joey was to be the winner but Bernard spoiled up the show for the system when he put him on the floor right in the first stanza. Anyway, close UD, SD, MD, I was expecting that, it all started with Jermain Taylor.

 

My thoughts straight after was, how did anyone see that for Hopkins?
He held throughout, other than the knockdown landed very few punches, was outskilled, outlanded and beaten down the stretch where he likes it.
Couldnt understand the SD, but thought at least the right man got it
