I thought the draw was fair.

I was left thinking that had Jack started a little sooner, he would have won it but also if Stevenson was in better condition, he would have taken it. Stevenson at 40 just can't fight 12 hard rounds.

I did agree with Farhood in that the rounds that Jack won, he won more convincingly.

A rematch would end in a stoppage I think.

Agreed. You can't ignore that Stevenson got his ass kicked for 90% of round 10 before he connected on the bodyshot. He capitalized on it in round 11.

Baffling the way many on here saw it, honestly.

He landed a huge bodyshot that almost made Jack take a knee. That's why a lot of us gave him the round. It was close though.

    No one cards are perfect

I thought Stevenson got his second wind in the 10th and did a lot better from 10-12 than he did in 6-9.

Those rounds from 10-12 were sloppy too. Difficult rounds to score for me at the time, maybe if I rewatch they will be clearer.

I had it 114-114 and would have been okay with 7-5 in either direction. Jack had to know he was giving away rounds. He took a risk and it sort of worked, sort of backfired.

This. Stevenson needs to hurry up and finish his career, since like PAC he can no longer sustain his offense. If Jack had any kind of power Stevenson wouldn't have made it passed the 6th round. Jack was landing jabs and right hooks almost at will and couldn't even drop Stevenson, who has an average chin at best.

Reading the posts on this thread show just how close the fight was. Nobody really seems too upset with the draw either (except maybe Badou Jack) from memory, rounds 7,8 and 9 are the only rounds I could score with any certainty (all for Jack). I was also ready to give Jack the 10th definitively until he got badly hurt with that body shot. I still gave him the 10th but the ending of the round with Jack hurt made it somewhat debatable.

I gave Jack rounds 3,4,7,8,9,10 and 12 and Stevenson rounds 1,2 5,6 and 11. Rounds 1-6 were all close, they might change on 2nd viewing.

    115-114 Stevenson

Draw is okay for me, though Jack winning is pushing it. And I DESPISE Stevenson so I have every reason to root against him.

    Round 1

Stevenson is pawing a southpaw jab up at the head of Jack, caught on the left palm. Stevenson tries a left hand, blocked. Stevenson is now doubling the right jab off the lead hip, elbow stuck out a few inches from his body in an uncomfortable looking invisible medical sling. Stevenson is caught with a left jab on the chest and misses a 1-2 over Jack's head. Jack is unsuccessful sidestepping and tossing a 1-2 at the face, hitting gloves. Jack is swatting down the Stevenson right jab with his left. Jack is staying outside, keeping his left foot outside Stevenson's right. Straight right lead by Jack, doubled up, making Stevenson recede into a shell.

    10-9 Jack, very close

    Round 2

Stevenson is baiting Jack with the right hand tossed halfway in, pulling it before it has fully reached target, hoping to counter the counter with a left. Jack not walking into his traps. Jack is keeping his distance, keeping a low, solid base. Jack gallops in behind a left jab and keeps his right hand cradled by his jaw protectively to screen out straight lefts but isn't accounting for the left uppercut from Stevenson, which rocks him slightly. Jack is tentative. Stevenson is jerking away from the Jack left body jab, rapidly circling. Headhunting combo from Stevenson, blocked. Stevenson is leaning outside at mid-range and boomerangs in with a 1-2. Stevenson throws a jab & uppercut, making Jack flinch but not landing.

    10-9 Stevenson

    19-19

    Round 3

Stevenson is catching the challenger's jabs and low diving right hands on his right forearm, held in a horizontal shield over his chest. Jack is reaching in with the right and Stevenson is slipping it with a turn of his chin. Jack is standing in and jabbing, being made to miss as Stevenson hangs outside and uses head movement. Jabs & uppercuts in combination from Stevenson, all caught on the arms. BIG right hands by Jack hammering in. Stevenson covering up. Stevenson backs Jack off with a straight left on the body. Jack is able to score a jab but is backed off with a left while loading up his follow-up right down the center aisle. Stevenson is timing Jack, using feints at mid-range. Left uppercut into the chest by Stevenson, pulled into a clinch. Ref breaks them. Wild left uppercut by Stevenson, missing. Left hand lead thrown straight by Stevenson, peeking through Jack's wrists. Stevenson jabbing the body. Jack scoots to his left to reset and get away from the ropes, but is caught with another left downstairs. Stevenson lands a right jab and hooks off it, clapping the back of Jack's left glove.

    10-9 Stevenson

    29-28 Stevenson

    Round 4

Jack is able to jab effectively at mid-range while taking quick lateral steps every few seconds. Stevenson is loading up on the left uppercut and just barely whiffing. Jack is creeping in closer behind the jab, shooting a right hand on the step rightward and getting a slight piece of Stevenson's chin with it. Stevenson is keeping the right jab mostly in his pocket, looking for power shots but finding Jack slipperier than he realized at short range. Jack able to sneak in the odd looping right on the body and dart outside without taking any punishment.

    10-9 Jack, close

    38-38

    Round 5

Stevenson is throwing powerful left hand leads but getting picked off with Jack's right glove. Stevenson working a right hook and is able to herd Jack where he wants him with it. Stevenson being the ring general in the absence of many clean effective blows from either man, accordingly winning the first 90 seconds of this frame. Stevenson is starting to cuff Jack over the left eye socket with a right hook sliding his lead foot in from outside. Jack isn't throwing much, and is landing nothing. Jack tries a body hook and Stevenson backs him out with a right upper-hook and shoveling left. Jack hurt. Jack falls in with a right uppercut and tries holding. Break. Stevenson leads with a right hook and goes downstairs with the left. Jack thrashes away up top with a right to back him off, then relents and clinches.

    10-9 Stevenson

    48-47 Stevenson

    Round 6

Stevenson is starting to land some very hard left uppercut leads jumping in, hurting Jack and putting him on the run. Jack is able to double a jab and land a right hand in counter while strafing quickly. Looping left by Stevenson, grazing the jaw. Right uppercut falling in by Jack, snapping the champion's head back a bit. Jack is circling and jabbing high. Stevenson is snarling at him, nodding encouragingly, hands down. Stevenson works his way in and takes some body shots, then cuffs Jack upside the head with a right hook. Jack is snapping a double jab on the outside and tracking clockwise. Jack falls in with another uppercut. Clinch. Stevenson is jabbing hard into the Jack guard and tries banging him with a right hook, powerful but partially blocked. Jack is moving left, slowing his pace to walk Stevenson onto a right hand, JUST missing with it.

    10-9 Stevenson, close

    58-56 Stevenson

    Round 7

Stevenson is unable to bash his way through Jack's guard with the straight left and is getting turned & countered when he tries his ill-advised leaping uppercut. Jack is able to hurt Stevenson after peppering him with enough jabs & rights in succession while keeping him on a roasting spit in the middle of the ring. Stevenson jabbing at the body, then coming up top and proving a beat too slow on the draw, getting countered. Jack is working the 1-2 up top, breaking through Stevenson's guard and backing him up.

    10-9 Jack

    67-66 Stevenson

    Round 8

Stevenson is missing the jab up top. Jack is digging at the body and tying up when Stevenson tries bashing him off with the left. Stevenson is caught by a low blow. The ref admonishes Jack and gives Stevenson time for recovery. Time in. Stevenson is caught by a short combo, jab & uppercut. Now a 1-2. Stevenson wriggles clear of the ropes. Jack is able to slip a left hook past the guard of Stevenson. Clinch by Stevenson, clasping both of Jack's arms from underneath with his own and swinging him until the ref asks him to release. Another clinch by Stevenson and Jack works the body with his gloves, throwing wrist-flick arm-punches even as he's trapped from the elbow up. Dirty infighting, Jack getting the best of it. They break and Jack falls in with a right hand on the frontal lobe. Stevenson ties up again.

    10-9 Jack

    76-76

    Round 9

Stevenson is getting backed into the ropes, Jack scoring jabs all over his face. Stevenson tying up constantly. Jack is controlling the range, working uppercuts and hooks on the body and then stepping around Stevenson. BIG left uppercut by Stevenson, mostly stuffed on the palms of Jack but getting a piece of his chin and making him fall back a step. Jack is starting to land short bursts of intense counter fire as Stevenson tries in vain to establish his jab and/or left uppercut on the inside. Stevenson is feeling smothered, unable to get off much clean stuff, and is hurt by a couple of Jack rights penetrating his guard!

    10-9 Jack

    86-85 Jack

    Round 10

Stevenson is just grinding his way into Jack as though he were trudging his way through a blizzard, every step labored and seeing him eat leads or counters. Stevenson able to do naught but grab, wrestle a bit to shake Jack and sap his energy, and cling until the ref orders a break. Jack is scoring uppercuts on the way in. Stevenson is swinging wildly, missing. Until he isn't!! Stevenson lands a HARD straight left on the body! Jack is hurt! Stevenson doubles up on the left uppercut and backs Jack up. Huge blitz from Stevenson, although very little of it lands as Jack goes on the defensive.

10-9 Stevenson, managed to steal it very late but was getting dominated early.

    95-95

    Round 11

Stevenson is NAILING the body with straight lefts. Jack circles wide and smacks the champ with a left hook on the way by, feeling confident momentarily but is hurt again with a left downstairs. Stevenson is beginning to slam home with the left downstairs. Jack is starting to wilt, in big trouble. Stevenson walks inside going low and Jack suddenly CRACKS him with an overhand right counter, hurting Stevenson! Nice rally by Jack! Trying his damnedest to steal this one back! Stevenson is clogging the lane, placing his arms over Jack's and pushing down, and walking into him to smother to disallow it. Overhand right by Jack. Right jab by Stevenson. Body shots by Stevenson as they body up, shoulder to shoulder. Wide right hand by Jack misses up top.

    10-9 Stevenson, extremely close

    105-104 Stevenson

    Round 12

Stevenson is throwing lefts into the guard, between clinches. Ref nearly gets clobbered while separating them. Both grin at the lucky *******. Stevenson is climbing his glove up Jack's arms, yanking them in close, spoiling. Jack is working the body while caught in a front headlock. Jack looks tired, arm-weary, but still the aggressor. Jack firing rights on the body. Stevenson abruptly explodes with a leaping left uppercut, blocked, and ties up. Stevenson drags Jack (literally) into a corner by the wrists. Jack with a body combo, punching HARD. Jack throwing the kitchen sink. Stevenson squeezing his palms over Jack's face to hold his head still and discourage any head shots.

    10-9 Jack
