One judge gave it to Ali 8-7, the two others gave 9-6 and 10-5 to Spinks. Do you think the fight was close? How did you score it? I'd also like to read an opinion of posters who already followed boxing at the time of the fight.
I remember one judge gave it to Ali. What a joke. It just shows how the Ali myth at that time could so often blind so-called professional judges. Ali mainly clowned and rope-a-doped during the first 10 rounds. Spinks was continually and effectively aggressive during those rounds. The last five were closer but Ali should have still been far behind at that point. Spinks won at least 10 rounds.
Yeah, one judge made an absolutely terrible call giving Ali 8 rounds. Even the one who gave him 6 rounds was too generous.
By the way, how did you score the rematch, was it closer then the official cards (10-4-1 and 11-4 for Ali)?
No, not really. Spinks did more work, quite clearly. I gave him 10 rounds, I think at least 9 rounds were CLEARLY won by Spinks.
