I was at the fight last night and the crowd had already started to leave before the decision was announced which says everything, those who did stay were surprised Chilemba never won
I had Bellew, haven't watched it back though. Mainly because the first 4 were pretty awful from Chilemba, he literally did nothing and regardless of the quality of the other guys work (which was questionable, I might add) its hard to give a guy a round for making somebody look bad. It's always tough when you start that badly, Chilemba was the better man for the rest of the fight and "appeared" the better fighter throughout, but that's one of the quirks of a round by round scoring system, the scorecard does not have to be representative of the overall picture and that's how it turned out for me. I doubt I'll watch it back, thought it was not that bad a fight though.
You said... Which is pretty demanding. Not how I saw it at all. He was throwing a lot of shots early on and landing very little. Then he started getting countered and then he started getting backed up. Bellew stopped missing so wildly because he stopped throwing much of anything. What harm? Bellew never looked like he was doing much damage and didn't act like it either. So going in the trenches is reducing your workrate and spending a lot of time admiring your work? He landed quite a few punches and controlled the pace and distance of the fight. So, even though Bellew wasn't actually landing, you gave him rounds for activity even though Chilemba was landing more and better shots? That is bad scoring, sir.
Hmmm, I had Chilemba by a couple...... Reminds me of Hopkins v Calzaghe.... I had that to Hopkins BTW
In response to this: :rofl and a silly picture, if your going to come onto a forum such as this and attack a well constructed post, give it the respect it deserves, one line merchants should be ridiculed and outcasted at every available opportunity. Agree? Harms way; its a saying, to hit you have you to be in range, Chilemba was unwilling to step into range, he was counter punching, seldomly, my take, its not yours, Ive gathered that! Going into the trenches; Bellew began being outclassed 7 an 8, he was being forced back and couldn't land anything on Chilemba, he acknowledged it, and began marching in again at least to sway some momentum back towards him, I thought he achieved that, as Chilemba stopped throwing anything meaningful at this point, similar to rounds 1-4. This required more output as Bellew before this was basically just moving around on the back foot and throwing very little! Chilemba did not control the distance of this fight, when he was allowed; he displayed excellent range control, but it was seldom, it was for a period of 3-4 rounds max over the full 12 round distance! NOT ENOUGH My scoring is my scoring Taylor, I stand by it.
Less than 20% scored it to Bellew, surely anyone scoring it to Bellew must admit they're wrong? This isn't a text poll on Loose Women, it's the scoring of 128 knowledgeable boxing fans who are in the high majority pro-Bellew. Bellew lost, and lost clearly. There is no argument against it.
Had it by a round to Chilemba. Not really sure how people could have had it so wide for Chilemba however. Have seen 117-111 posted a few times which is utterly absurd. He is the better fighter, doesn't have enough power but made Bellew miss for the majority of the night after the first few rounds. A poor fight all in all.
Don't see how. Not only did Chilemba land the much cleaner shots over the course of the fight but he also landed far more than Bellew did. This fight was not even close for my money the sky team were a disgrace.
