Internet posters...so, human beings. As opposed to...your morning toast and tea, whom you discuss boxing with?
6-6 but with Bellew conceeding the last few rounds due to tiring rather than being technically inferior during that spell.
Can completely go along with that Achillies though I find it far easier to give Bellew another round than Clev!
See I still scored the last two rounds to clev, but still gave it to bellew by a couple rounds. Strange old fight, no doubt I would see something different next time round.
I remember I thought Clev had nicked it by a round or two, but I've never watched it again and scored it properly round by round. Seems like a long time ago for both of them now, but have either of them really fought anyone since who they could claim good experience from to have changed them for the better? I don't think so, Clev's opponents have been average at best and the Chilemba fights were horrid watches. I'm sure they'll fight again at some point though, the needle between them doesn't feel settled to me. Ideally I would want to see them go again. Soon.
Gotta say I'm not one for scoring fights and just go on gut instinct first time round watching. In that sense the impression I got was that Clev's better conditioning and so slightly better workrate got him through. If I sat down and re-watched it that might change of course. My most vivid recollection though is the absolute dross Cleverly was getting between rounds from Vince. Vince had him thinking he was coasting it and I'm sure that affected Cleverly's urgency towards the end of that fight when he should have been told to put his foot down.
Internet forum posters as opposed to the plethora of fighters, journalists, cornermen, trainers and of course the 3 judges. Some scored it a draw I think I had it to cleverly by two rounds, he just had the better work rate and landed the cleaner of the shots in the mid to late rounds especially. I'll watch the fight again and give whoever asked for that a break down of my take on the rounds.
1 Cleverly 2,3,4 Bellew 5, 6, 7, 8 Cleverly 9, 10 Bellew 11, 12 Cleverly Cleverly by a round but I think round 10 could have been scored either way or as an even round not much landed. Tony threw more but landed on more gloves for me and cleverly got through cleanly with a lot of short just slightly jolting scoring punches during the exchanges but tony would land a big hook on the gloves and follow up with a flurry showing work rate but that's not how you score points for me. Close fight, a draw wouldn't be outrageous but cleverly would have been very unfortunate if tony bellew had got the decision.
I was at the fight and the general consensus before the scores were read that Bellew had done more than enough to get the W. I thought Bellew won too many rounds early on that Clev would need a couple of 10-8 rounds or a KO to win
No worries mate, insomnia, hyperactivity and extreme boredom mean I have a lot of time on my hands to watch fights on youtube. Also watched Hatton/Thaxton yesterday, what a rumble that was, Thaxton's chin in his prime was iron.
