Everyone knows Jones won, it is only the factor that Tarver WON more than two rounds. Most of Jones' opponents barely win a single round thus anyone winning three and above are subject to praise.
i remember there was a great controversy. at least 50% believed tarver had won. im surprised 78% has jons winning now
I also thought he could but apparently he couldn't. He was laying in the ropes not because he want to but because he has to. Proof, even in their 3rd fight where he desperately need to beat Tarver (after Tarver humiliated him in so many interviews, appearances, etc) he still couldn't.
That is more because it was actually CLOSE and Roy lost more than 1 or 2 rounds. Remember, Roy was superman at this point to the fans and just came back down from beating a heavyweight champion. The fact that Tarver made this a competitive fight caused a bit of an over reaction to how much of the fight he actually won. It was a fairly close but clear win for RJJ. I also had it 7-5 Jones.
Me too: 7-5 Roy (he got the last 2 to win it & seemed to have more control during the fight) Off topic but did anyone remember Jones' dominant round 5 during Tarver 3? It's on youtube Would you say that was the best round Jones has ever had against Tarver. I personally think it might be (Have to go and watch Tarver 1 again though). But if it is, don't you think it's strange how he can pull out his magic even after his two savage KO defeats. I'm just praying he can bring it out for one last hurrah.
I originally scored the fight a draw. Tarver won his rounds big and he allowed Roy to rest by being too inactive for long periods. I felt Tarver was the better man that night but just simply didn't do enough to get the decision. Having watched the fight a few times since I can see how some scored that fight for Jones. I'd have no problem with anyone saying Roy won by 7 rounds to 5. Tarver simply didn't do enough to win more than six rounds.
