Look Im a bit of a mundine fan, that night I picked Mundine to win and had money on him but i think he got soundly beat. Some rounds were close, a couple Kessler really dominated, most went clearly in Kessler's favour. I thought the rounds Kessler wonwere pretty easy to score for him and Mundines were fairly close, he only really seemed to steal them or look good in spurts. Looking at the 4 criteria of effective aggression, clean punching, defense and ring generalship in nearly every round Kessler was the better man. Each round was competitive, Mundine certainly didnt disgrace himself, he made Kessler work and had him missing a lot. But Choc a lot of the time was getting pushed back without scoring and not doing anything to win the fight, more trying not to get beaten up. I had it 117-111 and I think one of those rounds probably should have went to Kessler but I was really looking for any excuse to score the fight for Mundine.
I didnt score the fight but when I watched it, Mundine didnt seem to really win any that clearly. But anything more less than 9-3 in Kess favour seems odd.
I dont want to start a **** storm but I reckon he would fair a lot better now...he seems a more confident an he had a lot quicker hand speed then Kess
While I disagree with you that Mundine won (although I agree he clearly landed the more effective shots), Mundine's inactivity and Kesssler's activity gave Kessler a clear 7 rounds IMO. I scored it 116-113 live, 116-112 after (seeing that quite a few people seem to think it was a 10-2 type fight... atsch ) A tough 116-112 at that, not an easy won. If that makes sense. EDIT: haha, just playin'. Now I understand.
I'm not a fan of mundine, but I had it alot closer than the judges. However, kessler did have an injury, was fighting on choc's turf, and still won quite clearly. i just thought it was closer than what some people made it out to be.
117 - 111 Kessler. Mundine won rounds 3, and 9 though they were very close rounds. Kessler also gave mundine the 1st by simply making it a filling out round. The rest were to Kessler. The last 2 were kinda close, but Kessler again doing more.
