I watched the fight the other day and was disgusted. Khataev bossed the whole fight. I had it 8 rounds to 2 plus there was a knockdown. Once of the worst robberies I've seen.
Khataev clearly won the fight but we already know well enough if you're a Soviet brother fighting in the US they're going to rob you in broad daylight without a mask and only ever give you the rub of the green in these "close fights which could go either way'' once in a blue moon. They damn near robbed an entire generation of them who fought over there and now they've moved onto doing it to the next one
Khataev was the aggressor throughout and outlanded Morrell round after round - the punch stats only verifying what we saw with our own eyes. Plus Morrell got dropped and that round was clearly 10-8 for Khataev. Seen worse robberies but it was clear enough a robbery.
Khataev won this in my eyes. There was no way Morrell won 6 rnds. Best case for Morrell was 5 rnds and with the knockdown he lost.
Wow Khataev mugged on that decision... Judges should be ashamed of themselves Admit he ate a lot of smaller shots but there is just no way Morrell took that with full boxing scoring criteria in consideration.
