Coming from the guy who consistently has terrible scorecards and boxing opinions, take your own advice.
It’s almost like I want to watch it again just to score it properly but I just didn’t enjoy it, can’t get behind Haney’s style 1 bit. It was 5am for me and even I could see Loma won that fight, a lot of the rounds were close though.
not sure if what i'm about to suggest is possible, i'm not a computer person, but here it goes. this would be for people who are watching the event as it happens. (not an upload) open 12 threads. one thread for each round have a poll: who won this round? close the poll when the next round starts. fun experiment?
Same. Mega close rounds but nothing explosive until 10th and 11th which were easy to call. Haney's rights to the body and Loma's double left seemed to cancel each other out. Felt like Loma added that bit more to gain control.
This. Loma once again gave away too many of the early rounds. In the first 7-8 rounds Loma was too negative. Loma turned it up in the 9th and 10th round, but it was too late.
This. Those effective body shots throughout the fight pretty much won Haney the fight, since Loma had no answer for them.
Here's a RBR fan poll which sort of sums up how 880 fans scored it RBR. This content is protected The most one-sided rounds in this fan poll are consistent with who I thought won the rounds after watching it live and which rounds I wasn't sure of : 1, 3, 10 and 11 for Loma, and 2, 4, 5, 6 and 12 for Haney. The ones I wasn't sure about (7-9) are closer to 50/50 than the other rounds. So a strong majority had Loma winning 1, 3, 10 and 11, with a small majority had Loma winning 7-9. A strong majority had Haney winning rounds 2, 4, 5, 6 and 12. Out of rounds 7-9, Round 9 was extremely close, almost 50/50, then round 7 the next closest, about 55/45, and round 8 more like 60/40. So rounds 7-9 seem to be the hardest to score. All in all, this poll indicates that it was a very close fight that fans are very conflicted over who won.
They weren’t effective at all. Didn’t slow Loma one bit and he won the second half of the fight coming on strong. 50 body punches and no negative effect on Loma.
I didn't think Haney's body shots were more effective than what Loma was throwing. Loma seemed to walk through all Haney's body shots.
Yeah, that south paw stance gave him some trouble as it did when he fought JoJo Diaz. He abandon that jab because he was trying to avoid Loma countering him. This why Loma closed the distance on Haney, no jab was there to stop him. My friend said the sam thing about Haney possibly having suction therapy, but that mark wasn't there before the fight.
