I actually think the rounds I gave to Sumbu were tighter than the few early ones McCallum clearly won.

Say....7-12 were painful to try and separate.

I must admit I did indeed see it as two halves, very much so. Not quite the way the first Colin Jones - Milt McCrory fight was, but........

    :yep

I don't think Jones landed a hook until about the fifth round of that fight.

He was patient, that Jones fella.

As to McCallum-Kalambay II, though, I seem to remember giving Kalambay four of the final six, which I guess represents more of a gentle shift in flow rather than an all out reversal of anything happening in the first half. I thought it was still noticeable.

There weren't many significant punches landed by either fighter. Mike landed a bit more early on, but the noticeable difference in the first half was mainly that McCallum set the pace and dictated when most exchanges were made. Kalambay was mostly reacting, until he started to pick up the pace in the second half.

I check in here now and then, but don't always post. I seem to alternate between Classic and football threads in the lounge - keep to one of them and then get bored and change to the other. Can't seem to keep away totally, though. And threads about Kalambay and/or McCallum always draw me in.:D

Very close havent seen it in a while. Always wanted a MM career set but I could never find both fights with Kalambay on them but ah well! Only clear decision was the first but both times Kalambay gave a great account of himself. Think this gets overshadowed by MM's other technical battles with Toney but also love how he clinically took apart JJ and his strategy for Watson though it became hard to watch the last few rds.

Sweden. My favourite team is Barcelona, though, and that doesn't sit too well with some of the English posters there.:D

    Bump!
It’s been awhile since I last seen this fight but I am thinking about giving this a rewatch and re scoring. Would like to see if anyone else would like to give this fight a watch and giving their score.

I think i scored it a draw from memory (or maybe had Mike narrowly ahead). It's very close for me- and it was the 1st fight that was quite one-sided.
