Very close fight, lot´s of close rounds. Good fight. How did you score it? I had it 115-113 for Taylor, but I think that it could had gone either way. No robbery, but 117-111 for Palvik was a bit too much.
I score it the same. Pav threw more but JT landed the cleaner harder shots. I wouldnt put up much of an argument with 6-6 but I did give JT the W.
I thought that this kind of a poll makes things more clearer. If you just have 5-6 of people saying who they had winning and how much, you have to see all the pages to see how people scored it. With a poll like this you can see it easier. And at least I like to see also numbers how people scored it and not just who won. Thats why...
my card was 115-114 to pavlik 1-10-9 pavlik 2- 10-10 draw 3- 10-9 taylor 4- 10-9 taylor 5- 10-9 pavlik 6- 10-9 taylor 7- 10-9 taylor 8- 10-9 pavlik 9- 10-9 pavlik 10- 10-9taylor 11- 10-9 pavlik 12- 10-9 pavlik
I am a bit suprised that so many had Pavlik winning, but like I earlier wrote I accept the decision 100%. In my eyes there were so many close rounds that it could had gone either way.
Probably Taylor 115-113. At the risk of repeating myself (there's just too many damn threads on this already) and taking plenty of stick from Pavlik fans, I thought Jermain looked like a much more skilled boxer. At times, Pavlik looked awkward, uncomfortable, lacking in skills and extremely one-dimensional. From the angles I saw the fight, Jermain appeared to be throwing the cleaner punches and connecting with more useful shots. Kelly looked to be throwing more but Jermain seemed to be blocking very well, so much of what he threw was absorbed by Taylor's gloves. Maybe if I saw it from a different angle I'd feel that Pavlik won convincingly, but until then I am sure Taylor won. One thing is for sure -- I had/have no favourite when it comes to Taylor or Pavlik, so my post here is definitely non-biased. I will also give myself a little credit and say I think I know what I'm talking about, having been a boxing fan since 1977 when I was a kid watching Ali fight, and I also think I can recognize bad scoring decisions when I see them. In my opinion, Taylor should have won and I was shocked to hear the result. I heard the scores announced and assumed Taylor had done it, though I was puzzled how they'd managed to get the scores so wide. No doubt, it was a very close fight, these guys are very well-matched, but I felt Jermain did enough to win it, despite losing the last couple of rounds. Overall, I feel bad for Jermain. He is a great fighter, a warrior with a huge heart, and he should be given way more credit than he's getting. Props also to Pavlik. He seems like a really decent, humble man.
