Rounds 1 and 2 were Jake's and the last was Sanchez'. If anyone scored it differently, they're wrong.
WTF? This fight was clear as hell. In one Sanchez got nailed standing and did nothing offensively, in two it was the same but on the ground and in three Sanchez had the back and landed a ton of punches from the top. 2-1 JE, no other possible way to score it. So TS, wtf was your card?
Its very clear the only thing you could argue you about MAYBE is giving Diego the 3rd round 10-8 but I dont think it was quite that dominant. Great fight though, shame it wasnt a 5 rounder.
Ok ill explain I think this was a classic case of a 10 - 8 round not being given when it should of , IMO ofcourse 1 - Ellenberger 10 - 9 , better technical stand up , landed the cleaner more effective shots , controlled the distance well , and displayed superior grappling in the short exchanges in the clinch 2 - Ellenberger 10 - 9 , again , displayed superior stand up , and looked a class apart early in the round , a couple of solid clean well timed shots which resulted in sub sequent takedowns , faded slightly toward the end of the round and allowed Sanchez some mild success on the feet , significance wise Ellenberger ticked the boxes but this round was closer than the 1st 3 - Sanchez 10 - 8 , here me out !!! , Ellenberger gassed , Sanchez controlled all the aspects of scoring in this round , culminating in him taking Ellenberger's back and unloading a barrage of shots while Ellenberger was flattened out , 2 or 3 close RNC attempts , and mighty close to finishing a somewhat close and competetive fight 28 - 28 Draw Here me out part 2 ; Rounds 1 and 2 were clearly Ellenberger's in terms of scoring points and clean technical application , but they were not one sided , Sanchez had success in the area's Ellenberger was winning , alll be it mild success , it was still enough to suggest he was in the fight still , which he clearly was :think Round 3 Sanchez bullied Ellenberger on the feet and almost finished him on the ground , this for me was more significant than anything Ellenberger achieved in the earlier rounds , and if Ellenberger scored the first 2 , 10 - 9 this had to be scored 10 - 8 , the level's of success differ between the rounds that Jake won to the last round so much so that as a comparison its just simply not an accurate one to say that round was a 10 - 9 round , there was just too much to score for Diego , Sanchez pushed him into an awful position on the ground to the point Ellenberger was almost hanging on for dear life , i dont ever remember Diego being in such trouble in either rounds one or two , when you compare the events of the last round to the first two it stands head and shoulders above them in scoring terms , or it should have  Ellenberger had virtually nothing in terms of success , he was bull rushed on the feet and out struck , he had his back taken twice and was mounted , further to that he was nearly submitted twice , and was nearly stopped on strikes I feel the events of round 3 in comparison to 1 and 2 should of outweighed it to the point it should of been scored 10 - 8 , a bit similar to Sonnen Bisping round 3 , a close fight where Sonnen excelled in round 3 and beat him everywhere decisively Just my thoughts
Without being a **** here , which im not trying to be !!! Can those who emphatically beleive the fight was 29 - 28 Ellenberger (and there seems to be a few) please explain just what Ellenberger in rounds 1 and 2 did , that eclipsed the period of one sided domination that Sanchez had mid way through the 3rd , that in there eyes warranted the rounds to be scored the same 10 - 9 ??? :huh
I can't score it 10-8 because Ellenberger was getting to his feet at the end and he didn't do bad for the first half of the third round, so it was 10-9 for me. Plus he didn't look close to being finished, other than getting subbed.
Everyone is right except winfella It was 29-28. I'm gutted it wasn't 5 rounds, I thought it would be. At least Dana admits they massively ****ed up.
Last round was not 10-8. Diego only dominated for about one minute, the rest was evenly contested, and Jake landed some good shots.
Do you guys think that a case could be made for 10-7's in the first two rounds (especially the first) of Dillashaw/Waston?
Ah I see. I where I disagree with you is not that Sanchez didn't have dominant positioning in the 3rd, it's that he wasn't actually landing tons of big shots on Ellenburger. The ref was looking to see if it was stoppable and it was never close. Ellenburger was covering up the whole time and not a lot got through and the ones which did weren't that damaging. It wasn't like Condit/Macdonald where big damaging blows were being landed one after another. Sanchez clearly won the round but Ellenburger wasn't hurt or close to being stopped as evidenced by him reversing Sanchez at the very end.
No, I don't believe in 10-7 rounds for mma. Barring point deductions, I can't see any justification for that wide of a margin in a 3-5 round fight. At some point the person getting dominated deserves some sort of credit for surviving.
