I had Lara winning every round except one! Williams lost and anyone who knows anything about boxing knows it. There should be a protest.............decisions like this are killing boxing!
I was fast forwarding through the between-round time on my DVR and missing small chunks of the beginnings and ends of the early rounds in my haste to catch up (after watching Rios-Antillon live) but slowed down to smell the roses about round 5. From there on Lara shut Williams out, basically. In the last several rounds there really isn't a strong argument to be made for PW in any one.
118-110 Lara Lara: 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 Williams: 4, 5 I could have seen anything from 8-4 Lara to 11-1 Lara.
In the 3rd round I felt that PW had the momentum shifting, so I gave him that round, plus the following two. I also gave PW the last round because Lara was basically cruising and getting ready to celebrate.
This isn't one of those close fights in which whoever lost would be upset. This was in fact a robbery. The judges were seeing Williams reputation I guess and giving him the benefit of every doubt. They must not have seen all the brutal punches to the head that Lara landed throughout the fight. I hope Lara gets a title fight to make up for this injustice. Williams had better not fight Martinez again if he knows what good for his health. Maybe even Manny P could have landed left crosses tonight, and I have never believed the Pac man should fight Williams. Williams lack of athleticism is really starting to show up now. He is a lumbering, but high volume, puncher.
I had it 9-3 or 10-2, I lose track of the exact score. Once it looked to be academic, I quit really keeping track and just watched for the knockout, which Williams clearly needed to win legitimately.
I'd be a little ashamed of Maravilla if he took it. Then again, Maravilla wants Pacquiao to challenge him at middleweight. :yep It isn't like the man has scruples.
