Povetkin was wiped out against the bodybuilder in the 7th round. Just a simple case of a fighter, with a better inside game than Klitschsko, but slightly inferior on the outside. The same thing will happen to that puny Usyk, when he fights a big in shape super heavyweight. These cruiserweights can't compete with these gargantuan behemoths. Not even the shorter Povetkin could.
Tricky it really depends how you measure the win. Wlad's win was more dominant, he was never in any trouble, he dropped him, but it was an ugly win and what should of been a signature fight ended up being seen as a rather ugly contest that highlighted some of his worst traits. Joshua stopped Povetkin and showed he was a better finisher than Wlad, but that aggression and stoppage came with a price because it was a very competitive fight up until the finish, he was rocked and caught far more than were used to seeing. Plus Povetkin clearly was passed his best, still one of the best in the world but not the same fighter that fought Wlad. Both men's performances had positives and negatives, what you think was the better performance may simply come down to what you personally prefer.
There's no positive at at to be drawn from Wlads illegal clinch fest and i don't think you can call it dominant either considering how there wasn't a minute of the fight where Wlad wasn't illegally holding. Joshua wouldn't have had any difficulty if he octopussed Povetkin every time he got near him and if WK was made box within the rules , there's a good chance he would have went life and death with Povetkin , or possibly even lose. He held to the extreme cos he knew he couldn't keep up with Povs pressure , make him fight Pov for 3 mins a round and he likely unravels like he did with Brewster. There's really no comparison between the two performances. Joshua outboxed Povetkin cleanly and within the rules. Wlad should have been given a DQ loss.
Theres no real way to compare the performance of a 39 year old (deeply post prime/ticking bomb to end up shot) and a 32 year old (prime). Its like comparing rotten apples with ripe oranges. The difference worth discussing is in the antagonists. Wlad cheated to hell and should have been DQ. Joshua khtfo pretty clean after a competitive early bout. The prospective question from that is, since Alex would have won the titles by DQ, then would fury have taken the title off PEDvetkin before Alex was stripped for cheating?
Usyk is rate as P4P one of the best fighters in the world while Povetkin has never been rated anywhee near the P4P top 10, Usyk would beat Povetkin, too much skill.
I don`t if Fury could have beaten Pov straight after he met Wlad because Fury wasn`t that good at that point but if tghey met in 2015 Fury would have boxed his ears off.
It's a hard call for me as I really like both fighters. Yes Povetkin is declining but the Usyk that fought Bellew would get stopped by Povetkin in my Opinion As for WK and AJ's win over Povetkin I see it as this WK cheated and fouled his way to a victory. In a fair fight without the holding and illegal tactics I still think WK would have won. Why he didn't believe this I don't know AJ struggled and beat an older declined version of Povetkin, however if same version of AJ fought prime AP I believe Povetkin would get the win So in summary I think both wins over Povetkin rate about the same, as neither win involved a fair fight against a prime for prime fighter
Punctuation please. It’s possible to get about 3 different interpretations of your post without it.
