So, start training this guy for toughman. He was around 205 at thanksgiving..He worksout, but has been going to school a lot so hasn't been hitting it as hard. I was just training a couple people for fun, and he wanted to fight...So, thought that would perfect for me. So, he wants to fight middleweight (160-184), and says he can do it. He SHEDS like 10 pounds off like nothing...So, he's 195. NOW, he's stuck at 195, and said he's just at a standstill. Of course this is a standstill of only maybe like a week and a half, but this guy is seriously gonna have to shed the rest of the weight FAST!!! So, we have til January 30th for him to make a weight of 184. That's a good bit of time, but how do I get him to drop it if he's at a standstill? Most of the 10 pounds he dropped was through dieting, and starting to workout again. Just not seeming to blow off now. BTW: This guy was also 330 pounds in high school, and within a couple years he took initiative to drop weight, and went down to around 200. SO..I was thinking if anybody knows how to diet/ exercise it'd be him. What do I do??? Oh, also just letting you all know he can still afford to drop 11 pounds. He's just an average body type right now...Like maybe 13-14% body fat. So, he CAN lose the weight, but what's the best way for me to get him to shed it, and MAKE SURE he makes weight on Jan 30th? This means diet, exercise. As for the boxing I work the hell out of him, and I have faith on him doing well if he makes weight. I don't have faith in him fighting the Heavyweight division, and he'd get hurt though.
keep him active constantly doing something to rais ehis metablosim and get a good diet that should lose fat quick
205 to 165 is a significant drop, you have to consider this fighters age and the health risk involved even if he makes it the risk of injury is even greater if he makes the weight. losing 40 lb over a course of year to 9 months is realistic but 3 to 5 this guy is putting his health at risk by getting in the ring in that kind of condition.
Forget about it. Theres no way he can loose that amount of weight comfortably. Loosing huge amounts of weight is counterproductive to performance. He`ll loose way to much in conditioning. How old is he by the way? Im guessing he must be in his 30`s at least.
It's 11 pounds in one month. Yes, that's a lot of weight fast if you're to keep it off. But that gives him about .25 pounds per/day, which is doable. (a lot harder considering it's the holiday season) I'm assuming that weigh-ins are the night before, no?
No, not 165...184. He was 205, and like I said he lost 10 pounds quickly just through dieting, and he's starting to workout harder. So, basically 195 to 184 within about 40 days. He's staying very active through boxing now, lots of cardio, I got him in the sauna some now, etc. He eats pretty well. BTW: What is Ricky Hatton's diet?
look if he dieting to loose weight quickly so he can look good in a speedo then thats fine .. but loosing weight so he can compete in a tuff man contest, or any full contact sport then your setting him up to get hurt . Loosing weight to just lose weight is totally different from losing weight to fight. You have account that he may fight someone that is very strong at that weight naturally and he will be fighting in a weaken state, I suggest you talk to a certified sport nutritionist. by the way Ricky has a professional nutritionist to help him with his diet .
He's been told this already and knows it. Not sure why people bother asking for help if they have no intention of listening to anything.
yeah, I definitely took him getting hurt if he weight drained to much in to account. He told me he could lose the weight easily...Meaing he would lose it by eating properly, working out...Not necessarily just losing weight to lose weight, but losing weight by getting in better shape, and healthier (a GOOD thing). As quick as he lost weight originally I figured he'd do it as well, but now I don't really think so. I know somebody who is a nutritionist, and I'm gonna ask him. I'll check out the Hatton diet just to see what it is. He told me the other day he could just not eat that day, and then weigh-in, then eat afterwards, and I was like...It really isn't worth all that! He's serious about wanting to fight, and there's noway he's fighting at HW...So, really no matter what I'd tell the guy he's going to fight one way or another. Wether he weighs 184, or has to kill himself to get there that day. So, figured I better do something to help him out.
