How do I properly wrap my hands up? Now that I have a freestanding heavy bag, hand wraps, and 16 oz. boxing gloves, I should learn to properly do hand wraps. Mine last night were a mess, I surely didn't do them correctly but I got them laid out in the right spots. Also the heavy bag punching really made my biceps.middle area of arm sore, I did a couple rounds on it last night, I have to build my stamina up, then hopefully post a video to see if I'm doing the right technique, etc...

There's many different ways. That way in the video looks cool but it's pretty complicated. Best thing to do is find some more videos on youtube showing different techniques and then try them out because the same method doesn't work for everyone.

I do mine really weird because I've hurt my knuckles several times. I wear two pairs of handwraps and I don't even wrap my thumb. I find that without wrapping my thumb I can make a tighter fist and I haven't jammed my thumb on someones head in sparring since I started doing it like this. It also means there is more material over my knuckles.

all you really need is to go around your knuckles and wrist. Don't worry about going between the fingers and such

I wrap to protect the hand and wrist, not the knuckles. First twice around the wrist, then I go to the hand. Once between the index and middle finger, then across the hand itself. Next between the middle and ring finger, and again across the hand. Last between the ring and pinky, and again across the hand itself. Lastly once across the knuckles, and I finish up the wrap on the wrist, two or three times.

If you want advice ask your trainer, the internet is useful if you want opinions.

It protects the hand much better and creates a sturdier fist.

when you wrap your hands, you wrap around the knuckle area, thus trapping knuckles together when you punch the small bones in your knuckles expand and move against each other causing many injury's , so if you wrap in between your hands this stops the bones from banging together and injuring your knuckles.

lol. Don't do it so tight. Put it between two fingers, then make a fist and adjust if needed before going on to the next two fingers.
