How Do People Rate Lennox Lewis Higher Than Larry Holmes?

The cut makes sense when Larry Holmes retired the first time after Spinks too. Thats why I made it and backed this up with numbers and arguments to do so.

What Larry did afterwards can be seen pretty different, but I have a hard time of downgradnig him against a fellow with a void at this place. Certainly, I´m not pushing Lewis for "not making a come-back and avoiding the same losses).

 

Whats his odds at 38 & 40something against Mike Tyson, prime Holyfield, Ray Mercer and Oliver McCall?

For my reasoning, he´s not doing any better than Holmes. Thats why I make a cut at age 37 for both. Logic

 

Well, from my reasoning, a 35-year-old Lennox Lewis isn't losing to Michael Spinks either time. I doubt he lasts any longer than Frans Botha or Andrew Golota. So there we are.

 

Thats correct. Believe Holyfield stops him at that age though. I´ll include this rematches @ the thread.

 

We never saw Lewis fight at that age. We saw Lewis fight at the age when Holmes lost twice to Spinks.

 

He won the rematch in most eyes.

I´d say we saw Lewis fighting a bit overweight and starting to fade against Vitali. It was a picture perfect moment for retirement (a rematch victory would be perfect).
That said, I believe Holmes would have lost a decision to Vitali at this stage. But Lewis would not see the finishing line against prime Holy imo.
