Brook's holding was excessive and he should have lost a point somewhere in the first half of the fight for it. Refs in general do not like to take away points for it though so Brook took a chance on making it a big part of his strategy and it paid off.
Porter barely landed a punch, he couldn't hit Brook. Brook was landing punches right on Porter's chin.
DMAX? So Brook went to Porters backyard, against a Haymon fighter on a Haymon card and lost by 9 rounds according to you but still got a decision. You need to learn to score a fight my friend and so do your pals on DMAX :good
I am sorry, but that is not what happened. Brook landed more clear punches in almost every round. It even looked that he had Porter hurt as some point. But I guess that this debate is absurd, as pretty much nobody thought that the fight was close or that the outcome was questionable.
[yt]https://youtu.be/bWqESHUJPmI[/yt] A few highlights, Brook landed enough on Porters chin and hurt him several times :good
I don't know how big is the German forum, but 1-2 users seem like an overwhelming minority. Either that, or you guys simply don't know how to score a fight. Porter didn't "outwork" Brook because he didn't land anything. Brook came with a good gameplan and executed it like he was supposed to.
:good it's OK, we are not going mad, we remember it clearly, I'm starting to question if he actually saw the fight
Thought porter used the head a lot and clinched aswell tbh. Listen fight in America and the ref didn't call anything so fine with me.
I don't get why fouls aren't punished from the start. Low-blows don't suddenly become illegal after the second or third one thrown, they are illegal at the start. Brook's holding was excessive and he should have had a point docked. That said, Porter's use of the head is more dangerous if not malicious or as frequent, and should be taken more seriously than holding. Overall, the fight showed me that Porter has a lot of heart and will be a force in the division for time to come, but he's ultimately a bit limited.
You never fight your opponents fight. Brook was smart but i also agree there was alot of holding but porter is also to blame the way he dives and it was him holding sometimes too but hes smart and starts struggling quickly to make it look like brook was holding. The problem with porter is he can't adapt. Lets not forget while there was alot of holding porters shots on the inside are illegal, he throws alot of rabbit punches and could easily be deducted points for them too I think if they do meet again brook will win easier. A stoppage looks tough against porter though, he looks to have a good chin. Im going thurman UD
WTF:rofl Porter has since beaten Broner, drained himself, and demolished Bone. His level??? He's going to beat or fight even with Thurman. Thats not gonna make Brook look better, it's gonna show that it took Brook a perfect fight to stave off the beast that is Shawn Porter. :thumbsup
Broner has shown he's levels below the top guys though :/ when you see broner get in the ring with a top fighter he'll continue to lose. He should of stayed at 35 where he has a size advantage. Bone is a keep busy easy win kind of fight. If porter beats thurman i'll be very impressed. From what i'v seen he's very one dimensional and if thurman is able to use movement, create angles and make porter miss and make him pay I wonder what shawns gameplan will be then. I don't feel he can do anything else
Instead of criticizing Brook for clinching when Porter rushes in, maybe you should criticize Porter for not knowing how to avoid the clinch?
