It's the body work and feinting. Loma's feet would fail him after getting caught with body hooks. He'd have to stand and trade eventually. Nobody wins a war with Duran. Maybe Armstrong.

Styles make fights. Billy Joe is tough and not above running and spoiling when it suits him. I'll have an article for you soon.

I think Spence is captain of the Welters since Crawford is at his 3rd(?) weight class. Tough, come forward body puncher. Sugar Ray would probably hit and run but Spence cuts the ring well and throws some very solid combos down low. Spence would probably take a few rounds off Leonard.

    Duran < Loma
    Hearns > Spence
    Leonard > Crawford
    Hagler > GGG

I think the competition was better at that time, which goes against many sports since basketball and baseball the players seem to perfrom at a higher level. It is easy to say the fab 4 would beat all of the guys who fight now. Legendary fights and years do that. They were all pretty dynamic personalities then, something which lacks today.

I don't know.. Even if we don't match him with Leonard, Hearns or Duran, Donald Curry against Crawford is something else.

I don`t think Spence could cut the ring off on Crawford, his footwork is clever as is the rest of his game.

Yeah, a shorter smaller switchier Hearns. Also I'm not sure I'd put Crawford on Hearns level of power. Better defensively in the pocket. But at 147lb which is way above Crawdad's best weight. Hearns is arguably the biggest hardest and hitting 147lber ever. The size discrepancy is too big to overcome IMO.

Spence vs Hearns on the other hand would be an awesome stylistic firefight for as long as it lasted.

I will have to write a Spence article soon. I would have but I was on vacation for him vs Garcia. Spence is a good ring cutter, he's just usually happy to fight at a standstill. If Crawford is smart enough to tie up and spoil a big strong body puncher he can win. It's a big ask of him. Spence should be favored IMO.

If The Hitman had a better chin we may have been calling him the goat.
