Does height usually have a lot to do with someones reach?

Some go end of the fist to end of the fist. Therein lies the problem. Too much inconsistency. Who cares if someone has long fingers?

I thought it was armpit to the end of the fist. That's what letterman says at the begining of every telecast

Then they are doing it wrong. Once they are married shouldn't they get further than fingers?

Yeah, that one is used too, but then you ignore shoulder width. End of fist to end of the fist divide by two seems most useful.

I think the average person is supposed to have the same wingspan as their height.

Understandably, boxers tend to have longer wingspans though.

Hagler is 5'9 but his wingspan is 6'3.
    P. Williams is measured at 6'1 (he seems taller) but his wingspan is measured at 6'10.
Mayweather and Mosley are supposed to be around 5'8, 5'9 but Mayweather's wingspan is 6' and Mosley's measured at 6'2.
Lewis is 6'5 but has a 7' wingspan.
Even Tyson, who is known for short arms, his height and wingspan are roughly the same at 5'11.

There are some exceptions of course.

I think that "wingspan is your height." thing is a myth. I myself am 5`8 and have really short arms compared to people 5`4

Arm span isnt an accurate measurement of reach. A fighters back is a big part of the measurement, and the length of hands dont really matter.

A truly accurate measurement is the armpit to the end of the fist, that is the real definition of a fighters reach.
