Larry had a shitty bitter attitude about Tyson, dude could not handle the fact that Mike obliterated him so badly compared to his other losses. Maybe his inactivity hurt him in that fight, it still won’t change the fact that Larry Holmes is as unreliable when discussing Tyson as Atlas is

Completely biased. Like when everyone says Shavers hit them hardest even though they came back and won but don’t give credit to guys that stopped them. It makes their victories and them look better. In their own eyes anyway. Tyson beats Norton, Quarry, Ellis to name just 3. He’d definitely be a force in any era.

Give Frazier credit. His comments on Tyson were honest and not based on bias or personal feeling. Hell he nearly killed his son and still calls it based on what he sees.

Tyson would have found it a lot harder in the Golden era than he did in his own time but he would still have done very well. More losses on his record but he would have been right up there.

A text book example of that a fighter's appraisal of his opponents often isn't very trustworthy.

Tyson had a chance against any of those guys and might possibly have beaten them all. That said prime Larry certainly would have done better.

Holmes has a delusional view of the era he fought in. I remember he was critiquing today's heavyweights saying something to the effect of "there are no more guys like Kenny Norton... Gerry Cooney" LOL.

Holmes once bragged about being the only man to ever stop Muhammad Ali. Dude, its not something to brag about.

A guy like Joshua is leagues ahead of Gerry Cooney. Usyk is ahead of Ken Norton. I understand there are terrific fighters in any era but some people like Holmes are blinded by nostalgia while others are blinded by modernity.

He’s pathetic. Someone should have a word with him in private about the chasm between how he thinks he sounds & how he comes across. Desperate & insecure.

I don't know why calling Shavers the hardest hitter in your catalogue of fights comes off as biased to you. Every man who faced Shavers apart from Tillis, and Tillis alone, has said that he was the hardest puncher they ever faced (And let's not forget that James faced a version of Earnie that was 13 years into his career).

Holmes has a major sore spot when it comes to Tyson or people rating him lowly amongst the greats, and it blows to see. I will say that he's at least good when talking to fans, so he can still be valued as a decent guy- But he's very delusional when it comes to talking boxing.
