I was trying to bring in casual or newbie MMA fans by creating the FIGHTS FOR NON-MMA FANS thread, but people stopped voting on the selections. I actually had a very hard time limiting my choices to just five - so I was thinking about restarting the thread as a place for us to post links to videos that non-MMA fans can enjoy. That way, when the hundredth thread on how boxers are more skilled than MMA fighters pops up in the general forum, we can redirect everyone there to a great thread filled with videos they can appreciate. I think it will be necessary to divide the thread into categories as some great matches have more grappling than a non-MMA fan might understand. If we used things like the MMA SUBMISSIONS video compilation to educate people on MMA submissions, then we could direct them to follow up with other matches where those moves played out. I realize this is a bit contrary to what you had in mind, but new fans are always the life blood of any sport. I would rather educate them correctly rather than listen to them ramble off what they think they know from watching TUF and Joe Rogan. Rogan knows his stuff, but sometimes even he miscalls the matches: Anderson Silva subbed Hendo via rear naked choke anyone?
I really don't want this forum turning into all of the other forums out there. I like the solid group of posters that come on here and post. Of course, I wish that you guys would be on everytime that I feel like talking about something... but this forum would be ruined fast if a bunch of shitheads came on and started the normal BS that you get everywhere else.
