I actually don't think he fought too badly. He was certainly more competetive than most of Floyds opponents. We know Floyd won the fight clearly and CJ Ross was a disgrace but I thought Canelo did okay and couldn't have fought much better than he did on the night.

Floyd is clearly a level above him but for a 23 year old I give Canelo credit for, as I say, being more competetive than most of Floyds opponents. That's obviously not quite good enough and Canelo will be very dissapointed with the loss but at 23 this guy still has major improvements to make and if he hasn't been too disheartned by this loss, which her shouldn't be, then he can still go on and be a boxing superstar and possible PPV superstar.

I mean what other 23 year olds are out there who have fought someone of the calibre of Floyd Mayweather and actually won a few rounds? I can't think of any so I'm going to give Canelo some credit for his performance on the night.

We have to be realistic, Floyd is an ATG sill near the top of his game so I hope people arn't too hard on Canelo for this loss. No shame IMO.

Horrible!!! All that talk about being a Mexican Warrior

He never really went for the win.
After 8, 9 round, he should of really went for a KO.
EVEN if IT MEANS GETTING KO HIMSELF!!!

THAT WAS THE BIGGEST STAGE!!! He meekly took his boxing lesson
Think SUGAR RAY vs HEARNS!! Ray went for it!! And Hearns was a deadly puncher!!

THAT'S WHAT A REAL CHAMPION DOES!!!

I thought he did very well, but im in a big minority here. I think he brought the best out of Floyd and required him to use the full range of his tools, and a lot of rounds were very close. The first 6 rounds were especially close, with the sole difference being Mayweather's speed. He broke away in the second half of the fight tho.

    Someone else mentioned it before

But it was spot on analysis

Te only he canelo had was hagler style all out guns blazing attack

Knowing he would gas before the sixth and swinging for the fences letting floyd hit hi with everything he had

If manny does that against floyd, I think it's another haggler Hearst style ko

Canelo is the over hyped, low work rate bum we all secretly knew him to be

Canelo looked like a novice in there........had no idea on how to handle Floyd at all......he was basically a stationary target all night.......I gave him the last rd only because Floyd backed off the gas.......that CJ Ross should have her judges licencse revoked is she honestly thought it was a draw.

True, but I seen many novice KO better, more Experienced guys...but they paid a price for trying.

Canelo didn't want to pay that price.

Floyd is shot to hell but yet he is the number one fighter in the world . Don't know to many fighters at his age that can still compete at the highest level but yet he shot.

Land a connection rate at 46% ! but yet he's a shot fighter.

I guess you don't see to many fights with Canelo but that is exactly how he fights it just he was in the ring with a fighter that's better than him. Canelo is not the the seek and destroy type of Mexican fighter you see like Margarito but he mostly a boxer/puncher so It didn't shock me all that he didn't storm at Mayweather and be on him like white on rice.

canelo is boxer/ puncher. but he's mainly a boxer and he does not fight like a swarmer. canelo did not get beat the f up, he was just out boxed by a better boxer. the only blue print i see on beating canelo is being the better boxer. easier said then done, now i just want to see canelo vs chavez jr. see how it feels to fight guy 20 pounds or more bigger then he is.

quite dissapointed in his performance to be honest, he tried to outbox floyd, that didn't work, then he kinda just gave up in the later rounds. He didn't go try for the knock out, and he gassed out like he did in the trout fight after the 6th round. Mayweather made him look pretty silly in there

He didn't embarrass himself but he(and his team) were clearly concerned about gassing out early in the fight, so pacing was obviously a big priority. By doing so however, he allowed Floyd to dictate the tempo of the fight and left himself absolutely no chance of winning.
Everyone knows by now that you won't dethrone a fighter like Floyd by pacing yourself, you've got to say "I'm gonna win this #@!& fight" and go for broke... possibly getting humiliated in the process.

7/10. Could have done much better as he fought the wrong fight but still at his best now, he would have lost. I predicted this to be an easy fight way before people were hyping this crap up. Hes still green and needed a string of good opponents and experience to fight Floyd. Should have been Floyds final fight of the 6 fight deal.
