Gameplan to beat _____ Convincingly? Manny Pac? Floyd Mayweather? Chad Dawson? Kelly Pavlik? Miguel Cotto? Bernard Hopkins? Paul Williams? Shane Mosley? Arthur Abraham? Joe Calzaghe? add on....
Manny Pac? two options: being jmm, or being bigger than him, other that that i dont see anyone else doing it. Floyd Mayweather? relentless body punching Chad Dawson? high workrate (see johnson) Kelly Pavlik? keep the fight at the center of the ring and walk to your right to avoid the right hand Miguel Cotto?make it a fight with high workrate so he tires. Bernard Hopkins?same than cotto Paul Williams? two theories: inside fighting and body punching or in and out counterpunching Shane Mosley? let your jab be the 75% percent of your punches, dont brawl with him Arthur Abraham? This guy will not be beat by fighting him, you have to box and being out of the way when he wants to throw punches. Joe Calzaghe? I dont know If I am right, but side to side movement and counterpunching is what I have seen affecting him the most
i agree with manny... i think if your bigger than him and can pressure him you can beat him with accurate punches.... thats my opin though
I think the way to beat him is timing, he is very fast with extremely good boxing skill, You just need to wait for the right punch.
If you work Shane Mosleys body and control him with the jab you will confuse him, he will have no answers. Oscar De La Hoya had the perfect game plan for him in their second fight, Mosley though De La Hoya would come out and fight with him just like he did in their first fight but Oscar boxed to a set plan with took Shane Mosley out of his game straight away.
oscar was still a clear favourite going into the rematch, and even though the result is definitely contentious, it still doesn't change the fact that oscar has never closed the show in his biggest fights. that makes the vargas fight one of his career highlights (one of my favourite fights too), but it's overshadowed by his higher profile losses.
dude were a bunch of posters on a boxing forum, theres no way we can figure out how to beat these guys.
I cant believe no one has said JMM yet. That is a fighter that has to yet get beaten convincingly. Im not saying he should be undefeated but no one has beaten him convincingly. all of his fights could have went to him and i dont think many people would have argued against it. And to answer the question I think to beat him convincingly would be very hard. He would have to move up out of his comfort zone and face a concussive puncher. One who can punch much harder than Pac. Because he has taken alot of Pacs punches and although down never seemed hurt. Pac - 2 words. Erik Morales. Morales had the right game plan he just wasnt there 100%. Strong jab to keep him at bay and a good right hand for when they engage. Mayweather - Jab Jab Jab. And a quick slick boxer or one of the greats of pressure like JCC or Duran. Dawson - Glen Johnson. anyone wonder why the Tarver rematch happened instead of the Johnson rematch? Pavlik - There is alot of ways to beat this guys so im not even gonna bother. Cotto - Pressure and a great chin. Hopkins - To this day I still have no idea how Taylor did it. Not that i agree with the decisions but Hopkins i guess can be beaten by volume. Calzaghe beat him pretty convincingly. Williams - He is a freak of nature but a guy with good foot work and decent chin and defense. Quintana had good footwork, ok chin, and not so good defense and he managed to do it. Mosley - tall boxers with great jabs. Forrest and Wright beat him convincingly. Cotto also beat him by fighting a great fight. slick boxers will always give Mosley hell. Abraham - Honestly i dont know how to beat him. He has a good defense, HELL of a chin, Great power and good technique. I dont see any MW beating him and not many SMWs. Maybe outworking him but with his power he has a chance until the last second to steal a fight. Calzaghe - Hmmm Concusive power. good footwork to get out of the punches. I dont know Calzaghe is a great fighter who adapts like JMM and Hopkins do. This guys are thinkers and thinkers are the hardest to beat.
