Pretty much what cotto did rounds 9-12.

Clottey is strong, but he is one-dimensional and basic. Someone with the speed and skills of Mayweather or Pacquiao would box rings round him. I'd like to see him fight Berto.

    I 100% AGREE.

Clottey's defense is way too good, and look what happens when he actually opens up a bit? He got knocked down cuz he was off balance and left himself open, so he shut himself up the rest of the fight.

You're just gonna have to box and win on points and be content with it.

I have no clue why Cotto just didn't do that the whole fight...he just sat there waiting to get hit most of the time. :patsch

I guess he wanted to try to prove he's still a destroyer.

Not so sure about that...Clottey pretty much is a counterpuncher and not much else more. And when that dude counters, he throws in combinations. It was quite impressive actually.

I don't think it's possible...The man is tough, he sits there with his high guard and it's difficult to look good against him. Someone like Mosley would've capitalized if he had Clottey on the ropes like Cotto did.

Difficult one - beating him is as much to do with what he does as what his opponent does. If he refuses to come out of his shell, no-one will ever look good against him - it is for this reason that he will never be a contender, nor a big draw.

I believe that the only fighter that would really excel against him would be Floyd. I have said on numerous occasions that when Clottey attacks from range he is wide open down the middle. If he attacked Floyd, he would get nailed every time by Floyd's right hand. Failing this scenario, nobody will ever look good against Clottey.

Had he not been so worried about the cut so much I think Cotto would have stopped Clottey. He had him on the ropes numerous times and Clottey didn't wanna trade, only to relinquish the pressure he had created to step back in the centre of the ring because he didn't wanna get caught inside. If there's ever a rematch I think Cotto could stop Clottey.

He really hasnt faced guys dynamic or skilled as Mayweather...or Pac for that matter. They would be able to do it. Just because he was hard for Cotto and Margarito to beat convincingly does not mean its some monumental and impossible task. He just hasnt faced a level of opposition that can do that to him.

He is one of those fighters that will be hard to beat convincingly for most people though...sorta like Marlon Starling.

He can be got to when he leaves his hands go, his footwork and reactions are not that great!

He just has a solid, high guard!

I agree he looks good when he leaves his hands go, but against a good counter puncher he would be made pay!

Plus his mentally is so bad that after a few rounds of throwing and being hit straight away he'd loss all composure, and any chance of winning

In my opinion, one of the few guys that could really beat him convincingly is Paul Williams. Clottey's biggest weaknesses, if he has one, is that he tends to want to block shots and wait for the guy to finish before unleashing his punishment. Paul Williams' workrate and reach advantage would spell a nightmare for Clottey, just like it did for Winky. Paul by clear UD over Clottey. Also, one big mistake he tends to make is that he tries to concentrate on not being sloppy too much and blocking everything, sometimes he is willing to just sit back and let the guy tee away. This will not work against Paul as he has shown to have great stamina.
