This is why I say that these strategies of catching Floyd are old and expired now. Maybe before 147, but not now. Listen to almost any of Floyd's fights and they always he is a deceptively powerful puncher. We know he can run around all day with training 15 minute rounds, he's taken excellent care of his body his entire life so I don't think he is going to just get old in the ring, it's going to be a very slow and gradual process with Floyd. His technique is beyond approach, he knows where he is at every moment in that ring and as recent as his two last fights, he's walking people down now. Dude is in camp right now banging with Middleweights, so he isn't caring about Cotto's power too much. All I'm saying is, it's like when Michael Jordan was on the Bulls, you just knew he would pull out the victory, Floyd is the same in a sense and it's to the point with him to not really disregard his opponent but to look at Floyd and the level of ease he has dispatched almost every foe with. How can you not expect different than what you've seen before with him? Look at the accuracy, look at the plus/minus totals, Floyd is in another world from every other boxer out there when it comes to hit or getting hit. I like Miguel Cotto, great fighter, one of the top of this era but you are going to see why Bob Arum is one of the smartest people in boxing, he wasn't going to put Cotto in front of Floyd. Bob isn't there to protect Miguel this time and on May 5th, everyone will see why.

    This.....

Plus Cotto has T rex arms and doesn't have the reach to trouble Floyd, which is his biggest disadvantage that no one mentions, please believe Floyd will stand in the pocket an break Cotto down punch by punch, while staying at a distance where Cotto and his short reach can't hit him back

That is not how to beat Floyd. You don't even have a clue as to how Floyd fights either.

Floyd will be beaten the same way Leonard could be beaten when Ray finally got experience after Duran 1. on the outside.

Leonard was beaten because Duran could box, he could take a punch, and he could punch with both hands. Leonard did not know how to deal with someone who was stronger than him. By the time Leonard figured Duran out, it was too late. But that fight made Leonard a better all around fighter.

Floyd learned early that he could pick shots off and go toe to toe or box when he has to. The Augustus fight helped Floyd against Chico, and the Chavez fight helped Floyd in the Castillo fight, and future fights.

Castillo looked a whole weight class bigger than Floyd, he was physical with Floyd, but he didn't land enough clean punches on Floyd if you saw the fight. He landed some shots, but Floyds were clear. He just tried to rough Floyd up, and some people, mainly his critics actually thought Floyd lost, clearly too. **** out of here. In fighting Castillo, Floyd learned how to fight bigger men.

Wow. Damn bogatazo, i've never seen this fight, I thought Floyd dominated this fight. Well, now I know why your very confident in Cotto's chances in possibly beating him and after watching this, Floyd has his hands fool even more than what people think. Nice.:good

Floyds critics are so focused on the name opponents that they think he has not faced that they forgot the wars Floyd was in that helped him become the fighter that he is today.

Chavez was getting his brains bashed in. He was getting caught with too many clean counters and uppercuts. His head was snapping back every time he got caught. His corner did him a favor in pulling him out of that fight.:deal

It will take a combination of the following...

    Height

    Range

Varied jab... doubled, tripled, firm, moving backwards etc

    Mobility... serious mobility...

    Speed of hand and foot

    Patience

Pressure will never, ever beat Floyd. Superior physical 'gifts' that take away Floyd's usual physical advantages is the key to victory. Only fighter out there now who has the physical edge/frame to beat Floyd is Mike Jones, but he is not well versed enough in ring craft yet, and by the time he is, Floyd will be long gone.

For the last time I'm not saying to beat Floyd, but to get by his defense look at RJJ vs Erik Harding. Harding had the same defense Floyd had. It took Roy around the 9th rd to figure it out before it was stopped in the 10th. I have said this for yrs and surprisingly only one person on here remembered the fight and agreed with me.

But in case you did not know what Roy did was start punching on his shoulder blade and rotator cuff so he could drop his guard. He did and Erik did not last another round after that. If you can't lift your hands up, you can't guard.
