Joe Calzaghe - struggles with Reid, Bika and Kessler, tries to pull out at the last minute against Lacy, but yet would have fought and beaten a prime 25 year old version of Roy?

    Ha! Only on ESB!

jones didn't like southpaws? he fought 7 southpaws in an 8 fight stretch in his title reign at light heavy. joe's the one who didn't like southpaws. why don't you list all the southpaws joe fought. don't forget jones destroyed griffin in one round in the rematch. joe was hardly miles better than griffin at that point.

again, i love posting this video. this pretty much sums up what joe was compared to jones at this time. in this british documentary called "Roy Jones the greatest boxer in the world," calzaghe's name is not even mentioned once. this was done in 2000, three years into joe's "wbo reign." :) why would the brits not even mention calzaghe as a possible opponent for jones? they talk about how collins, benn and eubank might have done. the answer is because joe was a nothing on the world scene at this point. calzaghe was struggling with thornberry, starie and reid during this time. joe turned out to be a very good fighter in the end but he would have never stepped in the ring with a prime jones. joe knows he loses. i'm trying to think of a fighter who's benefited more from revisionist history than joe and i can't come up with any. very good fighter but hardly a great.

Some serious shyte in your post there, Loudon.

Joe had some mild problems with Reid ( not as many as Roy had with Montel in their first bout).

He did NOT struggle with either Kessler or Bika.

And he absolutely schooled Lacy and ended his promising career.

However, I would pick prime Roy over Joe.

You, and everybody that seriously thinks a prime Joe beats a prime Roy are ******ed.Open your eyes. While Joe was fighting Eurobums Roy was fighting future hall of famers, and DOMINATING them. Joe has a typically European padded record. Roy didnt like Southpaws? Roy LOVED fighting Southpaws. A true master of fighting Southpaws, he completely changed his style for soutpaws and would still domnate them. I cant think of anyone who is more of a master at fighting Southpaws than Jones was other than maybe JMM. His footwork, ability to parry with both hands and of course his amazing angles and ability to feint, not only feint his punches but feint his footwork would spell disaster for Joe. Roy is just too smart, experienced, powerful and fast to lose to Joe. He would win every round like he did against Toney and BHOP. No disrespect to Joe, i think he was a very good fighter and i think he doesnt get the respect he deserves generally but lets be real, no way in hell he woud have beaten a prime Roy.

be realistic, he's been 3 years out of the ring, he would not come back and smash everyone from 168 to 175

I think what you have to do is to disrupt his rythm. If you can't do that youre in for a world of hurt haha.

The thing is that you have to have punching power or atleast enough pop on your punches to make him not want to swarm you.

not taking anything away from Calzaghe, but some of those stoppages were absolutely disgraceful, I wonder how much of an influence did they have on the modern day term "British stoppage"
