How Do You Classify Calzaghe's Performance In the Jones Fight?

Agreed. Calzaghe fought well and won by a wide margin, but that's what you'd expect from a top fighter like him beating someone like a 2008 version of Roy Jones.

Joe's speed and reflexes looked really good for a 36 year old.

I agree with not wanting to stop Roy. I'm waiting for someone to say that he couldn't have, even if he wated to, but that's irrelevant.

I know it's been done but if they did have a rematch at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, I would be certain it would be a sell out. Roy is way past it but he's the greatest modern-day boxer IMO and people would still want to see him on past reputation and respect alone. Can the same be said og Hopkins or Dawson? I wonder if a rematch had been settled long before this fight?

 

The word Retirement was written all over his performance against Calzaghe.

If he were only past his prime, that fight would have been a close one. But he was insanely shot, and his three previous fights and his performances should have given you a clear idea on how faded he was.

Jones should just retire now and spare us of any embarrasing highlights.

 

He showed the skills and talent required to beat a fighter who has been shot to pieces for years. He showed the skills and talent of someone who couldn't even drop a guy who was sparked by Tarver and Johnson years ago. He did exactly what was expected of him - win easily against a shot fighter.

Impressive? Not at all. Other than the 1st round KD, it was routine and all too predictable. Anyone with any power would have stopped Jones.

 

Calzaghe wasn't in top gear, he had a lot more left than he showed. He was enjoying himself.
